Taken from just about everyone:

What are your five favorite stories? Not your five best, your five favorite:

Inventing Silences: I watched Voyager but didn't write fanfic in it until after the show ended. This is about Chakotay and Torres and it's my attempt to resolve why no one said anything to Torres at the end of Faces, the episode when she's split into two, a human half and a Klingon half. I love this story because it explore the power of what we don't say, as much as what we do.

Advice for the Lovelorn Knight: I loved the Alanna voice in this one--it made me laugh while I wrote it. I always liked Gary too, and I wanted to see their friendship in this way.

The Missing: My first completed epic, it's a Roswell story. Yes, I confess, I was totally a Rebel. I loved Max ans Tess together and I hated the show's destruction of Tess's character. It's only true TV love if it overcomes the obstacle--trashing the obstacle to make your pairing the only viable option? I'm sorry, I never bought the big soulful puppy love of Max and Liz. I experimented with first-person perspective here and though it occasionally makes me cringe, I like it for my first fic.

Musings of a Firegod at 50,000 Feet: So it really bothered me that Magneto got to laugh at Rogue in X2, because it seemed to trivialize Erik's crime. He raped Marie, insofar as he forced himself inside her against her will. I firmly believe that Marie would absorb parts of his memory. While this story is fluffier, with the focus on relationships, I wanted to show that Pyro is aware of the harm Erik caused. While some of the characterization is way off (I can no longer picture Jean Grey being thrown by a weird manifestation of a student's mutant power), I like this as a totally AU piece. Also, I wanted there to be an explanation for why Pyro defects. While X3 blew this theory to hell, this was my first and only swim in the river of X-men fandom.

The Devereaux Shoebox: OK, the place this was posted doesn't exist anymore, so I'll post it here. It's set in this extraordinarily complicated projected future of Days of Our Lives. Sami doesn't kill Franco--she marries him! And they have snarky kids, including twin girls who compete for the attention of Jenn and Jack's son. This story is written after Kay (the good twin) and Tommy get married. It was one of the first stories I wrote where I thought the conflict was organic, where it felt more like real like and less like the OMG!squeee!!! of the fourteen-year-old me. I may have gone the other direction now, having too little action, but this was the first time I let a soap couple worry about money and cramped quarters
