He watched her chest move up and down as she breathed. Her pink eyes were shut tight, a few stray locks of her golden hair adorned her now peaceful looking face. Shinn’s hand slowly went up to her face, gently stroking her cheeks with the back of his hand, adoring the beautiful face deep in slumber. And …he started to hum.

“Will you sing to me that song?”
Shinn looked at the blonde from the corner of his eye. “Song?”
“The song… from the other night,” She replied weakly, her fingers fiddling with a strand of his hair.
Will you sing to me that song?
“Aa…” He was a loss for words. The song brought back too much of those painful memories he had long locked up.
Stellar looked up at him, her half-open eyes pleading, “Shinn?” She wanted to hear that song again. That gentle lullaby. Even for just a while… she wanted to sleep in peace; just like the other night.
Nii-chan? Will you sing it for me?
“Will you sing it for me?” She repeated again, her voice much softer now, “Will you sing for me that song?”
Shinn stared down at the Stellar’s pink orbs. She reminded him of his sister. Some how; they had the same pleading eyes and kind face.
“Mado no soto kirakirakirari…” He started shakily. It was such a childish song. But he enjoyed singing it nether the less. From afar he could hear his sister’s soft voice join him in his song.
nagareboshi ga hitotsu nagareta
otsuki sama yurayurayurari
hoshi no umi de madorondeita
“Thank you…”
She closed her eyes… and drifted on to the world of dreams.
dareka ga mahou no tsue wo futtano
sore wa koi no mahou
yume iro no jikan

“Promise me! Promise me you’ll take her away from all of this! Promise me… you’ll take her to a kinder, warmer place…” Shinn demanded as he hugged Stellar’s shaking form for the last time. “Promise me…”
The masked man simply nodded and stepped closer. “I give you my word,”

“Hey Shinn…” He heard her weak voice call. He turned around and found the blonde smiling warmly at him. “Let’s sing that song together… someday…” She mouthed.
“I…promise…” Shinn muttered as he turned around once again.
Onii-chan! Let’s sing the song together!
“When this is all over… I’ll come back for you and …we’ll sing… we’ll sing that song together…”

It was when he had closed his cockpit that he had allowed his face to crack into a sad smile. He glanced at the masked man’s retreating back from his side monitor as he started the gundam’s engine.
In the morning… she won’t even remember the words.
