RL RANT
Ok, this time last year, I was promoted to trainee manager where I work. And I'm GOOD at my job. I work harder than the two 'actual' managers, and the other trainee manager has been there 14 years and still is a 'trainee', which says it all really.
But as of this week, I've been told I was on probation the entire time, and it's been extended for three months to help me "improve" myself. If something happens in the three months though, they won't wait the full period to deal with it. Hmm. Then you aren't exactly giving me three months to improve, no?
Apparently, the manager, who is on holidays, and the owner, who is hardly ever around, both decided to have a meeting with me. By meeting, I mean the manager attacked me verbally for half an hour, and whenever the owner asked if I had anything to say to defend myself the manager wouldn't let me speak... :/ Not sure how I was supposed to defend myself exactly.
It was all really stupid stuff.
I use my phone too much, but that's fine, moving on. One of the other managers is forever on the phone. Always. Even when she's dealing with customers or company representatives. I only use my phone if I'm upstairs in the store and no one is around.
I talk too loudly, but hey that's just your voice, so try not to talk. WTF. And in the next breath I apparently need to talk to people more... Um. wtf, how do I do both at the same time?
Also, when I started as a trainee manager, I asked if I had to wear a suit, I was told I didn't as long as I wore the uniform black jacket-thing instead. I do. It has big pockets and my panic alarm and store keys and all fit perfectly. Now I'm told it looks scruffy (they don't think so, but one customer said it) so I, AND ONLY I, have to wear a suit now. Just a suit jacket, not the trousers, but the other trainee and the general manager both wear this jacket. I asked if they were planning to wear suit jackets, and the manager goes "oh I don't wear suits either", so why should I?
And I'm not to talk to people I work with if I hang out with them outside of work, because then they won't respect me... So how am I supposed to work with them then?! I'd seem a bit of an ignorant cunt not talking to them at all, and then why would they want to respect me? I wouldn't respect someone who ignored me all day and then text to say "hey wanna hang out?" There was like a two A4 page list of stupid crap like that.
And at the end, the owner was like, but we're not attacking you; this is all supposed to help you; bullshitbullshitbullshit; you can improve on this because you're a really good employee and work really hard but you need to change everything you are... can you do that?
