At 6:00 am, Nicki and I rolled out of bed with considerably less enthusiasm than we had the day before. Yesterday, we had Disneyland promising excitement; today, we had nothing but a long drive back to San Jose to anticipate.
Traffic in Los Angeles wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, but it was still pretty miserable. It felt like it was taking forever to inch our way from Anaheim to the Grapevine, but what can you do? Any alternative route would have taken just as long.
Thankfully, once we got past the mountains we were able to just zip along. We got back to San Jose with just enough time that I was able to hop into the shower before work. I'm sure the customers appreciated that.
A note: every time we pass through Gilroy on a road trip, I end up stopping at Sonic for food. I always regret it. Today was no different. The food is always limp and unenthusiastic, and the grease coats my mouth and feels uncomfortable for hours. Yet the ads always make it seem so advertising. Curse them and their efficient marketing.
