Merry Christmas!
Seanie went down to Atascadero with his parents this morning to visit his grandparents, leaving at such an early hour that I wasn't even awake when he sneaked out. I rolled out of bed at a much more leisurely rate and wandered over to my parents' house for breakfast. Mom made a spinach omelette, and we decided to catch an afternoon showing of The Hobbit.
Around lunchtime, I went back home so that I could take Jared and Erin to the San Francisco airport. Since I'll be dogsitting for them, we went over some quick rules for caring for Paco, their chihuahua, and then we loaded their bags into my trunk and took off. Since it's Christmas Day, traffic was really light, and it only took me less than two hours to drop them off and get back to San Jose.
My parents and I have done movies on Christmas Day several times, but I've never seen the theater as crowded as it was this afternoon! I'm not sure if it's the theater we chose - it's in a mall so it's one of the more popular ones in San Jose - or if Christmas movies are becoming a more common tradition as people struggle to amuse themselves on a day where nearly everything else is closed - but we couldn't find four seats together for The Hobbit. My brother and I ended up in the second row, with our noses practically touching the screen, while my parents found another pair of seats farther back.
After the movie, Mom wanted to go to dinner at a Chinese restaurant, but it was so crowded that she despaired of getting a table. So, my family went back to their house and I went back to mine, where I ate leftovers (we have a lot of food piling up thanks to all the holiday celebrations) with Seanie and had a nice, quiet Christmas evening.
