Quote of the Day: George Washington Carver

Oct 06, 2012 11:11

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and of the strong.  Because someday in life you will have been all of these.
-  George Washington Carver

If I could make a wish and have it come true, I would like to see the presidential candidates each write an essay in which they describe a situation in which they have been in these positions.  What did they do, and why did they do it?  I think that the way each man interprets the description and applies it to his own life would be pretty interesting.  Would their writing become a litany of "I'm so great and this is why!" or would it be full of tender, heartfelt moments?  The way the answers would be skewed to appeal to their political party's base would probably make this a depressing exercise, though.
