... giving away 1/5 of your shoe collection (crazy I know)
... giving away 1/4 of your bags (bye bye Coach and Gucci)
... giving away 1/3 of your clothes
... giving away 1/2 of your books
... throwing out all your magazines
Packing up your life into boxes is no fun. The worse bit is the unpacking.
I was so overcome with fatigue (spent the whole of Saturday from 10am till midnight packing, Sunday 12 noon - 6pm unpacking) or just plain overwhelmed with the sheer amount of stuff I own, I gave/threw away 2 extra boxes of clothes / shoes / bags that we took with from the old place (in addition to the things I had already given to my helper in the weeks prior).
To be honest, I felt somewhat sickened by my own materialism. I am not only going to be the woman who lives in her shoe but the one with a tent built from her clothes and lined with her bags. I still feel like hurling thinking about the $$ that has gone to Karl's / JPG's / Nicolas' / Marc's pockets.
I may regret it when this dust-fueled insanity minimalism has passed.
