Last night Mr. P and I enjoyed a lovely dinner in one of my favourite restaurants in Hong Kong for dinner before joining a friend from London for drinks at one of my least favourite bars. What a contrast but that's another story.

Enoteca is situated on the busy Elgin Street (Soho - as in South of Hollywood Road in HK); a gem that is always packed. The menu hasn't changed since it opened its doors in 2005. And there isn't a need to. I am a strong believer of not spoiling a winning formula. Enoteca is not a traditional spanish tapas place and it doesn't pretend to be. It serves up contemporary cuisine, of course with usual crowd pleasers - garlic prawns anyone?

Between Mr. P and I (and other friends who took me there years ago), I have tried about 95% of the tapas menu and love 90% of those dishes. Service is attentive even on a Saturday night.

I made a promise to him last night; that I would not drag him around HK trying out new tapas restaurants any more. Especially after the disappointment of Tapeo and Uno Mas (raved reviews from everyone and we DID NOT LIKE THEM ONE BIT).

Here are some of our favourite dishes.

First up, my favourite - Herbed fish goujons served with chili-lemon aioli
The fish was fresh and light - melts in your mouth - nicely seasoned in the herbed batter. The zing from the chili in the aioli was the perfect compliment to the fish.

Mr. P's favourite dish - Creamy brie and roasted garlic served with toasted foccacia
Garlic, brie and nicely toasted bread - unbeatable combination. The garlic was perfectly cooked - soft and browned without a hint of being burnt.

Arugula, avocada and parmesan salad
We tried this for the 1st time last night and love it. It's probably the simplest of salad I've ever eated. Rocket, red onions, tomatoes and avocado very lightly tossed in olive oil and covered with shredded parmesan. Would be just that bit better if sweet cherry tomatoes were used instead.

Chicken in very spicy peri peri sauce
Peri peri + chicken = Jess loves!

Seared tuna loin coated in black and white sesame
Per Mr. P not the best Tuna dish he's ever had (obvs since this is NOT a Japanese restaurant), but the crust was very well seasoned and the tuna was fresh. A little on the thin side though.
