Lazy day

So here's the summary of my Sunday: slept, gorged, got cold.

Woke up early because of a conference call back to the US, but I couldn't fall asleep after that. So I basically milled about my room until I felt hungry enough to venture downstairs. Went to this buffet place in the hotel and despite going over my daily meal budget in one sitting, it was well worth it. It really had some of the best food I've had in Shanghai.

Not a very appealing day to wander around the city.

I didn't take any pictures of my 8 prior courses to this, but this dessert dish was too pretty. It was a green tea custard and the thing the martini glass was some type of cream with raspberry stuff.

After all of that, I couldn't really do much of anything else. Not that I wanted to with all the rain and stuff. I fell asleep soon after that. However, I told the cleaning lady that she could come by around 8 - and I woke up around 8:02. Not wanting to get caught with my pants down when she came, and not wanting to stand around while she cleaned, I packed up quickly and headed out. Of course, I had forgotten it was raining, windy, and cold. Wearing only a t-shirt and some ratty jeans, I walked around. Me and another umbrella-less guy were on the same path and we would often give each other sympathetic looks of the doomed. Man it was cold.

The grand theater as seen during the night. I stopped by a convenience store nearby to pick up some snacks and headed back to the hotel. The realization dawned on me that I am staying this hotel so much longer than most people do. The lobby is filled with well to do looking tourists who are probably staying for a few days, while i trek back in my jeans and t-shirts holding a convenience store bag with crab flavored chips and orange juice. It's somewhat embarrasing.

Said chips
