I think I will do nothing for a long time but listen,

After visiting my dad in the hospital following his hip surgery, I went and picked up my shirt from Buckle, as they were repairing a rather large gash that it shipped with. Looks excellent. I only got to wear it once, Thanksgiving night when Josh and I went to go see Ninja Assassin. Sometime during the last week, I was leaving class and discovered a pine cone on the sidewalk. I gave it a gentle kick into the street, whereupon a car swerved slightly out of its own way to crush it. A form of spiritual high-five.

Last week, I had lunch with Mirav. She was paranoid about her blossoming relationship with Ev, a cool guy I met a little over a year ago in Sandra's class. She said I looked down, and invited me along with her and Darline to some artsy thing at Railroad Square called "First Friday."
I went with them, but I had dinner with the two of them and their friends (most of whom are my regular customers and recognized me as, "Hey! Gamestop dude!"), and instead of going to this art show, we all ended up watching a movie at Ev's place. I had a great time but ducked out when they wanted to go watch 1960's-era Adam West Batman in the SLB.

Saturday was work. Jamie was looking like hell. We went to dinner afterwards and she vented for an hour or two. I offered advice, but sometimes, and especially in her case, people just need to get things out.

What did get me down was going the entire weekend without seeing my friends, but it still went reasonably well. All of Sunday was consumed with work. McCarthy and Eliot paper for Dustin was completed. Whitman and Dickinson paper for Outka was completed. Short story for Joel was completed, scrapped, and rewritten. Dad entered the hospital Monday while I rode a second wind throughout the day.

I couldn't sleep somehow, despite being up all night Sunday night, so I reread Sin City and scratched down some ideas.

Sunday was interesting. Despite our Chanukah party not being until next weekend, the kids were obviously in Chanukah mode, and Rochel gave me a play to direct the kids in for the following weekend. Tasha only had one or two students, so her class melded with mine. Tasha mentioned not having anyone to celebrate Chanukah with, so I invited her here. It'll just be my mother and I anyway.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. The gang and I will be in a group again, doing our thing. Might journey down to the lake or DeLand, which was also a blast last time we went to see Josh's performance. Jana arrives in town at some point that week and she wants to hang out. Between all this, I have work. No shortage of things to do. I'm usually not fond of the breaks between classes. Dustin mentioned wanting to do another cookout as well.

Before the snowless snow parade, I still have my American Renaissance final with Outka tomorrow. Two solid hours of, "IcelebratemyselfandsingmyselfandwhatIassumeyoushallassumethateveryatombelongingtomeasgoodbelongstoyouZeroestaughtusPhorphorousandIchoosejustaCrownI'dprefernottoHeavenain'tthatwherewhitefolksisgwineI'drathergototormenttogetawayfrommasserandmissus."

I would have split out more diverse quotes, but Leaves of Grass is still completely fresh in my head.

So Mike- AZ Summer 2010?

-Ann gave me a book that had my name in it.
