Winter break's been amazing, even though I didn't do all of the things that I'd planned on doing. Christmas was quiet and relaxing. Me, Igor and my mom went out to my grandparents and spent the day there.
I went with Igor, his family, his best friend Allan, and his sister's friend Karina to New Hampshire for a week. It was great, everything was covered in snow the entire time we were there and it even snowed on New Year's Eve.
I've mastered the basics of snowboarding! And it only took 3 days and multiple falls down the mountain to accomplish this! The entire trip was quite an adventure. Allan had to go to the hospital on New Year's Eve because he fell while snowboarding and hit his head and the ski patrol medics were concerned that he had a concussion or worse. Thankfully, he was fine. In addition to a lot of snowboarding, me, Igor and Allan went for a drive around the local area to enjoy the scenery. It's really beautiful up there.
Later today me and Igor are going to his parents' for their Christmas.
We've been talking about where he's going to grad school and what we're going to do. The best case scenario for both of us is that he gets into MIT and I get into Tufts. MIT's close enough that we could easily see each other while I finish at USP and it's only 15 minutes away from Tufts so we can live together again when I graduate. I looked up how close CalTech and Stanford are to UCDavis (where I'd go to vet school in California) and they're both hours away. And the chances of me getting into their vet school are incredibly small. Over the last few years they've only accepted about 30 out of state applicants, and I doubt I'm impressive enough of a candidate to get in there.
We've also talked about Igor deffering his acceptance for a year and working so that we can stay together for a year and see if I can get into whatever vet school is closest to where he is.
I really have no idea what's going to happen. It sucks because I'd like to get my housing situation sorted out, but I have to wait until Igor knows what he's doing and he won't know until he gets acceptance letters which won't be until about March.
I may do a foal sitting program with U Penn's New Bolton center! They have an orientation on the 30th of this month. My only issue is transportation. I'd have to borrow my mom's car every time I went out there and it's an hour drive.
I haven't driven for months now so that should be interesting to say the least.
