to anyone who likes drawing..
COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECT!
I'm wondering if anyone would like to get involved in an art project I am undertaking through the University of Western Ontario..
The themes of this project are the identity of the artist, issues of authorship, as well as the way that technology mediates daily communication and interaction with others and how this affects our perceptions.
The undertaking is a large 'self portrait'. The reference photo will be blown it up and I will send each participating individual a 5x5" square from the photograph to duplicate in whatever media and style you choose, in those same dimensions, without any idea what the finished image looks like until I receive all of the squares and patch them together. The result is rather open ended, as the final work is dependent on the persons involved. The cost to you would be materials and the cost of mailing your completed portion to me, and I live in Ontario, Canada. You of course receive credit and the pleasure of seeing documentation of the final version.
As for a timeline, you would have until the 16th of October to complete and mail a 5x5" drawing, with the finished product to be available for viewing online the following week, as long as everything goes well with the postal service.
