Done with the semester. Making my apartment ready for summer (cleaning and storing things I won't be taking home with me), packing, returning books, that sort of thing.Leaving for Kokomo sometime Sunday afternoon.

Possible Drama Camp Scripts:

For Basic (children's book adaptations:
- "Hey, Little Ant"
- "The Quiltmaker's Gift"
- "There's an Ant on the Railroad Track!"

For Intermediate:
- "What If Sherlock Holmes Were a Woman?"
- "Aramba Chekkan" (Indian version of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth)

For Advanced I
- "Fools" by Neil Simon
- "The Great Books (Abridged)" by the Reduced Shakespeare Company
- "Western Civilization! The Complete Musical (Abridged)" by the Reduced Shakespeare Company
- "Friends" by Kobo Abe
- Some really well-written detective comedy (thoughts, anyone?)

For Advanced II (Shakespeare), if it happens
- "A Comedy of Errors"
- "Two Gentlemen of Verona"
- "Much Ado About Nothing"

I'm pretty well prepared this year, with backup plans for most things. We're trying to start an intensive literacy effort within the Basic class (for kids just learning how to read). I'm adding in puppetry (bunraku puppets to teach cooperation), singing and dance, as well as some short classes in auditioning and directing. I'm also writing my dissertation prospectus.

For some reason, I kind of dread going home. Maybe I just dread the trip. Driving's better than flying. There is a whole different set of problems at home than there are here. I can help with problems at home from here (for example, by sending money or paying a bill here or there), but at home, the problems will be right in my face.

My goal is to lose 15 pounds, clean the garage, start on the bunraku puppets, master my new digital camera, and get at least three of my papers ready to submit for publication, all before June 9. I also need to visit the Tibetan Cultural Center (about 2 and a hlaf hours from where I live), to speak with the Rinpoche about Tibetan drama. That will be the first "ethnographic interview" for a much later book on Himalayan drama.

I guess that's it. Lots to do. Feel a little ambivalent about everything except teaching. Don't know why. Probably just tired.
