For the longest time, I treated my blog simply as an online diary or journal. The things I write about are personal matters - from family problems, love life, to my experiences both in school (before) and at work (now). In addition to entries about myself, there are occassions when I also write about lighter topics like new restaurants I have tried, books I enjoyed reading, clothes, shoes and other accessories I have recently bought, concerts I have watched and the like.
I used to blog a lot in my multiply site (
http://jyllyan.multiply.com/) and here in LiveJournal. When I entered college, I rarely got to write entries online. I shifted back to writing in my diar, the old-school way. (Don't ask me why because I don't know either.) During my last and longest summer break after graduating from college, I decided to go back to writing entries online. Initially, I only did it because I was just so bored at home. But recently, despite being caught up in work, I still make time to write entries. I noticed that now, it has become more of a habit especially when I can't talk with anybody but I need to vent out something. Together with reviving this LiveJournal account, I also created new blogs in blogspot -
http://strawberrykaos.blogspot.com/ and
http://maxandthor.blogspot.com/. The first one started out to be very similar to my LJ blog. When I realized this, I became a bit confused. I don't feel good about posting the same entries to two different blogs. What I started doing after that is segregating my posts. If the topic is something very personal and something that I don't feel comfortable sharing with everyone, then I write about it here in LJ. When it's something more trivial like movies or restaurants, I write about it in my strawberrykaos blog. My maxandthor blog is simply a blog I created to capture parts of my dogs' lives. Max is a cute chestnut brown chihuahua while Thor is a blag pomeranian-spitz.
I was recently going through the options/settings of my blogs at blogspot and noticed a link on AdSense. Apparently you could earn money blogging, and so I decided to apply for it. Applying was pretty simple. Before my application gets approved though, I think my blog would have to go through some screening process which I am not entirely aware of. According to the email I received from AdSense, they'll get back to me after 4 working days to inform me whether my application has been approved or rejected.
I started reading some blog entries regarding promoting blogs because I have no idea how this is done. For the longest time, it has never been my goal to be able to attract readers to my blog. My blogs are mostly just for storing memories or expressing what I feel. Once my AdSense application is approved, I would have to start thinking of ways to promote my site. I would probably also need to change a lot of things about it, like the type of posts I place there. I don't know how to begin. :(
