Aaron and Gail <3Yesterday was Aaron's 22nd birthday. We weren't able to celebrate it as much as we wanted though because he had a long exam scheduled the following day (today). He didn't go to school yesterday, but not to celebrate, but rather to review instensively for his exam. He woke up early as usual, and started studying already. He told me that he didn't feel like it was his birthday. He was more stressed than ever in his life. If not for people's birthday greetings, I bet he would have even forgotten that it was his birthday.
After work, I called him up asking what he wanted for his birthday. He told me that he just wanted to see me. So, despite the long day in the office and the stressful 3 hour drive through heavy traffic from Pasong Tamo, Edsa to Fairview, I still went to his house to pay him a visit. Even without him asking, I think I would still go to his place just to be able to greet him personally on his special day. I'm his girlfriend after all, and he's someone really special to me.
At around 9pm, I finally arrived at his house. I joined his family in their simple birthday dinner for Aaron at home. They had buttered chicken, pancit, vanilla ice cream, and his birthday cake. (His mom told me that Aaron really waited for me before blowing the candle on his birthday cake.) We sang the birthday song for him before the candle blowing. He made a wish after, and I think I know what he wished for. (And his wish got granted today.) I got to talk a lot with Aaron' mom and his aunt over dinner because he left me there on the dining table with them. He had a lot of things he needed to study for his test the following day. After dinner though, I headed straight to where he was so that I could keep him company.
Aaron was studying in his room. He was on his study desk with lots of thick advance-looking medical books on his table. He had three opened at the same time. Not to mention the laptop on his desk where he types his notes, and his iPad where he keeps his other resources. When I entered his room, he didn't even notice me. He was too engrossed with what he was reading that he blocks out all other noise. When I started speaking though, he looked up from what he was doing. Apparently, my voice still rises above his studies. I told him I could keep him company for the next half hour, but he begged me to stay until 11pm. He said he enjoys having me around. With me there, he doesn't feel sleepy at all, and he feels really motivated to study (aside from the fact that I'm occupying his bed, making it impossible for him to lie down and rest). During the time that I was there, I talked with him every once in a while, and played games on my iPod. The latter part of the night though was spent sleeping on his bed. (Surprisingly, his parents were not against it. I guess they trust me and Aaron a lot to not do anything stupid.) When I woke up, I apologized to Aaron because I know I wasn't really much of a company asleep. He told me not to apologize though because he liked looking at me sleeping. I dont know why, but I found it very sweet. Anyway, after waking up, I didn't stay that long anymore. I left at around 11:30pm and headed straight home. I was also really tired and needed to sleep.
Today, after Aaron's exam and my dental appointment, Aaron and I had dinner with my dad at Mary Grace and then rode a bus to Greenhills from Medical City. At first, I insisted on just walking to Greenhills thinking that it was just a short walk away, but apparently, the distance was way longer when walking than driving. I underestimated the distance. It seemed like a bad idea to walk all the way to Greenhills in the weather today and considering our limited time together. Aaron hailed down a bus for us to ride in to Greenhills. It was my first time to ride a bus again in the city after a very long time. The cheap fair came as a special surprise. Aaron paid Php24 for both of us.
Upon arriving at Greenhills, we immediately went to ViraMall. We visited various stores selling PS3 games and other computer gadgets. When we went inside Data Blitz, Aaron insisted that I choose a game that I want. He wanted to buy me a birthday gift already. I didn't feel like receiving a gift when it's his birthday so I told him that I didn't like any game there instead (although I do want to play Catherine and L.A. Noire). I bought a new pair of shoes there as well because my feet were aching already. (I was wearing my first Charles and Keith shoes and it was killing me. Maybe that's why their shoes are so cheap. it's because they're not comfortable at all, although they really look nice.) After changing to comfortable shoes, Aaron lead me out of Greenhills to supposedly try SereniTea. We initially wanted to get drinks from Happy Lemon but there were just too many people lining up for it that we just didn't feel like having Happy Lemon anymore. Our search for SereniTea though was not successful. Apparently, Aaron couldn't recall where exactly it was. We ended up walking along the road leading to Edsa. We passed by NorthEast Square, Fox Square and Conti's before spotting a milktea place we haven't seen before. It was called "Fruitea Mix". Since we were both tired from walking, we decided to give the place a try. I bouth the Premium Milk Tea while Aaron had the Caramel Milk Tea, both of which are bestsellers. The price wasn't that different from Happy Lemon and SereniTea. We also ordered chicken strips.
We had to go home after Fruitea Mix since the rain was starting to pour hard again. Since neither of us brought a car, we had to commute home. We initially planned on riding a bus from Edsa to Batasan (apparently there was one that travelled upto Fairview). But because of the strong rains and the fact that Aaron didn't bring his own umbrella (my umbrella was too small for both of us), we had to resort to either calling up Aaron's mom to send his driver to fetch us or to ride a cab on our own. Good thing the guard there at Fruitea Mix was kind enough to hail a cab down for us. We thought our adventure would end there, but apparently there was more to come.
Upon riding the cab, the rain started to pour harder than before. It was raining so hard that the cab's wiper could not cope with it. There came a point when visibility was really poor already. Cars had to turn on their flashers and fog lamps just to be seen amidst the strong rains.Traffic started to build up as well because of certain flooded areas along Edsa. When we reached Katipunan, the cab started experiecning problems. The engine began failing. The driver attempted to address it by adding engine oil and water to the car's engine. At first, it seemed like it was working, but when we reached the next traffic zone along Balara, the cab's engine died again. This time around, it simply wouldn't start anymore. Because of that, we had to resort to either walking under the rain looking for another empty cab, or calling our parents to fetch us there. I tried calling mom but she wouldn't fetch me. She said that the traffic along Commonwealth was really bad and she didn't want to go out anymore. Dad, on the other hand, answered his phone too late. By the time he returned my call, Aaron and I were already in a cab, heading home.
Mom was right about the traffic. Right after exiting Suzuareggui, traffic was already starting to build up. The heavy traffic went up to the Meralco area near Batasan Hills. It was caused by a reblocking which no one knows what it's for. During our trip home, Aaron was sleeping on my shoulder. His sleep was pretty deep because despite me and the driving talking the whole time, he didn't wake up at all. He only woke up when we were near our house already.
Upon arriving home and entering the house, both of us headed to the 3rd floor to greet mom and to watch Phineas and Ferb the movie in the family room. Both of us enjoyed it a lot, to the point that Aaron told me that now he understands why I love that cartoon so much. After the movie, we both went down to have light dinner. Aaron played with Max and Thor as well, becuase they were near th dining area, having their teeth brushed by Meg and Stef. Thor likes Aaron, especially when he's holding doggie treats. At around 9pm, Aaron's van arrived to fetch him.
Today was a very different day. it was fun and exciting. I experienced a lot of new things, although I am really tired. Hopefully, Aaron and I would have more dates like this in the future.
