Writer's Block: Lights Out

it was the ice storm in Montreal 1998. one of the biggest ice storms ever. we lost power for like two weeks (it was probably less than two weeks, but no less than a week that's for sure). school was canceled everything was closed. it was intense.
two family friends came over during the day (snow/ice day, schools were closed) we still had power at the time. My friends dad came upstairs (I then lived in an apartment building) to make sure they got in. Because the ice on the trees was so thick, by the time he got downstairs, a tree split and fell and caved in the hood of his car. it was intense.
then two hours or something, we lost power.  and we didn't get it back... for a long time.

the fam, ended up going to my friend Leyla's house, because she had a HUGE house, she was my friend so I wasn't bored in the dark alone, and she had a fire place. so imagine like 7 people sleeping in a den next to a fireplace for a.long.time.

some of it was fun, but she had this annoying brother who I wanted to punch in the fucking face. But we mostly played with lego, it's not like we could watch tv or anything. we built the most amazing apartment building of lego anyone had ever seen. I was quite proud of our accomplishment.

it was fun all that time off from school. but the school was like, oh no, these kids missed out of important shit (keep in mind I went to the dumbest elementary school in the district, I think) so they extended the school day by five minutes (like that did anything.. stupid fucks) and added 4 more days of school, and took away one of the PED days. I wanted to cry. more school. in June? kill me. I'm pretty sure that it almost did kill me lol.

but lego was fun.
