i realized that music is one of those things thats always evolving and changing just like we are as societys
but we move much slower in some cases or music changes much faster
how in the 80's metal was popular mostly as glam metal or extremely in my opnion estrogen filled shows and now homophobia has pretty much made metal as dark and intense as possible unless your talking about "screamo" which is a hybrid made from the emotional style also called emo which originated from punk and bands such as sunnyday realestate and other mildy gothic inspired bands
but just like fashion music is slowly coming back in style, mostly 80's or even 90's influenced music
such as the moldy peaches making a rather odd insurgence back into mainstream media with the launch of juno, pantera with disturbed or avenged sevenfolds covers of walk
or even metallica making a new album, but no band is completely not a "sellout"
because to the mainstream sellout is used far to frequently and to the mainstream people
sellout is just when a band makes a mediocre or great album but doesnt recieve much attention from critics or the mainstream
but the second they make a second album even if its along the same style as the first
and they make it big and have millions of views people jump and say they hate it just because
its considered mainstream by them or that the people who like it are shallow or the band
completely sold out and changed their style, for example paramore is often hated on or
called sellouts when in fact they didnt appear out of nowhere, they had an album over a year before RIOT!
and also that their style is still somewhat intact, they didnt make a huge shift like the band Aiden who was gothic and almost ripped off the my-chemical-romance to try and surf on their hype, but now moved back to their psychobilly and much softer roots changing even their personal appearance to appeal to the now dying scene following.
even if no one wants to admit it the scene following influenced more 80's styles in
music from their attempts at music or their style of clothing over the years it slowly
molded bands or made them skyrocket to fame while others, such as the blood brothers, who i consider to be a "scene band" made a solid attempt at being themself but quit in the end.
another sign that music is coming back is the solid comebacks from bands such as the spice girls new kids on the block and bands like day 26 trying to capitalize on the new public want for "boybands" but thats enough ill write more later
