Pictures for the train-obsessed (I also have some pictures for the snow-obsessed)

Not so long ago, someone made a comment about missing my photos of infrastructure.
Little did I realize that there are other infrastructure-obsessed readers of
this journal! I'm sorry to keep you waiting; here are some new photos of
train platforms :)

Here you see the Lancaster Station platforms covered in snow, neatly
combining two minor obsessions of mine :) For some reason I was the only one
on the platform at this point, a mere 15 minutes away from the next train's
arrival. Can't understand why...

I'm not sure what's up with the random lift shafts on the platforms; they
do not appear to go anywhere, unless they connect to an underground passage.
They have fairly modern-looking signs installed inside...

View down the platform, with the station visible overhead. Note the
space available for two bypass tracks; it would appear that there were
electrified tracks there at one point (they show up in some historical
photos of this station).

Random brick arches visible on the west side of the platform. We're
generally speculating that this is what's left of a building that has long
since disappeared...

It's interesting that they posted signs of their savings in a couple of
years; shame that no recent signs are posted.

Pictures from the train proved unviable, but rest assured that the trip
was quite beautiful.
