Conservation of Perfection, that sounds about right. Here's my theory then: the story and characters were too close to perfection, alarming the Law of Conservation. To preserve the level of imperfection the Law obliterated the QA department at Konami and replaced them with a bunch of flying squirrels, who merrily jumped off the highest point they could find as soon as developer builds arrived.

Play Suikoden. Suikoden is good for you. All three released games get my recommendation...

I have 2 versions with differing degrees of venom. Unfortunately for the moment, my memory's too fragmented to clearly remember where I put the better one; when it improves I'll try to track it down and post an entry.
