Love will tear us apartjyancraigMay 16 2005, 08:23:42 UTC
well, benj you can be certain of a few things - one is that i am older than you. i was 11 when the song was in the charts. i remember it. love will tear us apart became a kind of teen angst anthem for a while in the early eighties (much like smells like teen spirit in the nineties). when philippa and i saw it used as a teen angst song in the film series 7 we both looked at each other and laughed - we both knew how tragically true it was. :)
the new order tracks were chosen carefully - and keep in mind that new order are the remnants of joy division - to reflect a kind of sound - i am looking to explain how not just colour but sound is part of the magical experience, and i think Sine will be instrumental in that.
i can't possibly include devo - it was like the macarena - whip it was overplayed and danced to in the eighties to the point it drove me mad.
i am glad you listened to the lyrics. "shellshock" is definetly how i picture a nephilim experience.
on the other hand i woudl like to contrast the electronic soudns of Sine with something else - any suggestions?
