How Billy Crystal stole my sharpie

Last night I went with my friend Chris to see 700 Sundays, the Tony Award-Winning, autobiographical Broadway show by Billy Crystal. It’s a one man show that ran a full three hours (minus fifteen minutes for intermission). He was pretty hilarious at times. My face hurt from laughing. I never knew that his family ran the Commodore music label that originally released Billie Holiday’s recording of Strange Fruit. They were even selling Billie Holiday CDs at the merchandise table.

After the show, I went to the stage door, like always, because I’m a dork. We waited probably 30 minutes but he finally came out and I was able to get my playbill signed. I got his autograph twice, actually, since he grabbed the souvenir program I was holding and signed it as well. And then he walked right off with my lucky sharpie that I take with me to all of my shows. Yes, Billy Crystal stole my sharpie. He didn’t seem to be in the best of moods after the show, so I didn’t go after him demanding that he return it. I figured it would make a good livejournal title at least.

Chris and I then went across the street to IHOP for dinner. I had the yummy country omelet. They tried to poison Chris by putting onions all over his chicken florentine crepes. It was not the best part about the night! We both had a great time at the show. I recommend it to anyone if it is coming to your area. I think they’re getting ready to tour Australia, though, so maybe they're done touring the USA. But maybe they'll be back!
