Been buying way to many games lately. I'm starting new ones before I finish ones I've already started. I still need to revisit and finish Forza Horizon, Dishonored, Binary Domain, and a few others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Dylan acquired Ghost Recon Future Soldier and tells me he'll be upgrading to Gold membership soon, so I'll be jumping back in to the co-op and multiplayer of that game. Meanwhile, Melissa and I must continue to chip away at Resident Evil 6, which as it turns out, is a goddamn huge game. We also picked up Family Guy's Back to the Multiverse and Sonic Transformed Racing to play together. Oiy. So many games.
The re-playability of these games is going to have to last, because I put a Windham Weaponry WW-15 flattop on layaway the other day. Money that would normally be going towards games will instead be going towards this gun. For those uneducated in firearms, the WW-15 is an AR-15. One of those horrible black guns the administration wants to get off the market.
What appeals to me the most about an AR-15 isn't even shooting it. It's customizing it. I'm buying a base model, optic ready platform and then I'll be putting all the goodies on it that I want. Nothing major, but things like a rail system on the front with a vertical fore grip, finding a collapsable stock that's a bit more ergonomic for my wife, as well as possibly a bi-pod so she can rest it on the table at the range rather than struggle to hold it up. The most important thing after getting it out of layaway, though, is choosing an optic, as this model has no iron sights.
A holographic with a magnifier would be my first choice, but I still need to price shop that. I'm sure it'll be quite a bit more money than I would like to spend. So I'm thinking a Sight Mark holographic or red dot would be my best bet. Don't want a typical rifle scope on there, I'm not much of a fan of that. Plus, if we take it to our local indoor range their lanes are only 15 yards. I'm sure I'll find more goodies to put on there as I go but for right now the priority is paying it off and picking up a magazine or two each time we get a shipment, as they're pretty hard to come by right now.
I'm not sure where I sit on the whole gun issue, that being a hot topic right now, especially in my place of work. I still consider myself to be pretty democratic. I'm not against the 10-round mag limit. Sure, it would be inconvenient for recreational shooters like myself, but that's all. Still, I also don't think that limitation will really help anything. Same with the overall ban. I wouldn't break my heart if AR's were banned again but really, any kind of firearm can be used to commit a crime, and there's other rifles available that would aptly substitute for an AR for that purpose. I think it would suck for recreational shooters like my wife and I who would like to try and experiment with the platform like we are. But I also think that any measures we can take to save lives in the long run is for the best. And the answer to bad guys with guns is NOT more good guys with guns. The NRA are simply idiots, to put it mildly.
So, I don't know. I've been working directly in the gun culture for about a year and a half now so I see pros and cons to both sides of the argument. Right now, I don't think either side has a very good solution.
Anyways, I guess that's it. Not a lot going on, I just hadn't posted in over a month so I figured I'd jot some stuff down. Our tax return is magnificent, weighing in at $2727, but it's essentially already spent. We're going to eliminate the credit card debt we built up on my wife's card during Christmas, and do some work to my car, which includes but is not limited to new tires, new ignition coils, transmission fluid change and an oil change. After that, she wanted to use what we left to get her little Browning Buckmark out of layaway and return some money to her mom she borrowed to have some dental work done. But I don't think there's going to be much left after the credit card and car issues are taken care of.
I guess that's it for now. Toodles.
