Games

Well, we traded in the Kinect today, along with my wife's DSi XL.  I asked her how she felt at the idea of trading the Kinect and at first she was against it.  She enjoyed the Kinect, but the entire time we've owned it we haven't had sufficient space for it to work properly.  We haven't used it in well over a year.  I simply unplugged it from the 360 and it's sat there collecting dust.

She said she would rather trade her DSi XL.  This kind of surprised me.  It has shared the same fate as the Kinect, however, sitting on a shelf unused.  So the combination of the two pieces of hardware and their accompanying games equated to a value of just over $150.  I was surprised how much the value of a Kinect unit had depreciated.  Not so much the DSi, which was worth more, because Nintendo releases a new DS system every 6 months.

So, we decided to get the Borderlands 2 season pass since we've been playing the crap out of it and know we'll get good use of the content.  Preordered Forza Horizon, whose demo was awesome, and we both play the Forza games.  Finally, since her DS and games made the bulk of the trade I asked her to choose something she wanted.  She opted for Halo 4.

So we got those, fully paid for, without spending any money today.  Which is great, because we don't have any money, lol, at least through tomorrow.

I'm quite excited for Horizon.  It seems to have a lot of elements from Test Drive Unlimited but in a bit more of a refined, pretty package.  Halo 4, at least at the moment, I'm not as excited for.  Now, I'm certain it will be great as all the Halo games have (sans Halo 2) but until it gets close to that time I don't think I'll be up in arms for it.  It just feels like yet another Halo game.  And honestly, I feel like I could get more playtime out of Halo Reach, still.

Been dabbling in Max Payne 3.  It's a very unforgiving game.  It has a lot of difficulties.  Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard, Ridiculous, and Fuck You.  I started on Medium and had to drop it down to Easy, achievements be damned.  I may get less achievements out of the game now but I am enjoying it more.  The classic comic book style panels are gone, in favor of full in-game cutscenes with some flashy editing.  Gameplay is pretty much exactly the same as the first two games.  Which, depending on the kind of person you are, you may find either great of archaic.  For me, it's a bit of both.  It's classic Max Payne gameplay but I'm shocked that there have been virtually no new elements added to it.

I was thinking it may be trade-bait when I finish it, but as of today it would only net $12.  So I may just finish it and if the desire strikes me go back and see about finding all the collectables.  We'll see.
