The state of my gaming

I did something nutty and purchased a PlayStation 4.  So now, I have both next-gen consoles (sorry, Nintendo is essentially out of the console business to me).  I plan on using the Xbox as my primary console and getting only exclusives on the PS4.  Let me tell you, there be many exclusives.  Mostly in indy titles that are direct download.  Some of them have been available on PC for some time (Warframe, Don't Starve) but I'm a console guy.  Other than that, to start with, I picked up inFAMOUS: Second Son and Killzone Shadow Fall to get my PS4 career rolling.

It's exciting, really.  Because, as much as I love my Xbox One, I've played almost everything on it before.  I've played several Assassin's Creeds, Battlefields, Forzas.  While these are not the first entries in the inFAMOUS or Killzone franchises I have played none of them prior to this, and they're new to me.  Everything I get on the PS4 will be a new experience, and that has me pretty excited.  I pre-ordered MLB The Show 14, as it will be the only baseball game this gen on console this year worth anything.  2k Sports let the MLB 2k series die, which leaves only the Show for licensed baseball.  I've watched some videos on it and it looks like it has some pretty neat and different mechanics.  Player models look phenomenal.  It's going to be cool seeing players that actually look like their real life counterparts.

My Xbox One these days is used as my TV service with Netflix and Hulu.  So, kudos Microsoft, you succeeded there.  I tried to get in to a match of Titanfall the other day and I think their matchmaking system still needs a bit of work.  Unfortunately, Titanfall and Plants vs Zombies are the only unique experiences I have for the Xbox One so far, and they're multiplayer only.  After a few months of killing people in Battlefield 4 religiously I'm not craving multiplayer action and that's where inFAMOUS and Killzone delivers for me (despite Killzone being the PS4 multiplayer shooter of choice at the moment, it does feature a single player campaign).

Looking back at the previous gen, I purchased pretty much all of the Saints Row 4 DLC because it was bargain priced (like, 30 cents to a dollar for skins / weapons packs).  Now I just need to find a copy of the game that's not goddamn $40.  I can't believe it's not down in the $20 range.  It's been out for quite some time.

Ah well, I guess that's it.  I'm really enjoying the PlayStation 4.  Much more than I thought I would. Sure, it can launch Netflix and Hulu as well, but it's packed with games already.  It caters to the gamer, just as Sony said it would.  I look forward to all the new goodies coming out for it.  Also, anyone using PSN, send me a friend request!  It's weird having no one on my friends list.  My name is Deftallica83.
