Upgrade mini review

Welcome to my mini review of "Upgrade," or as I've decided to call it the episode that was so busy kissing Lois' ass it's hard to believe found the time to kiss Chloe's as well.

Honestly I think something is wrong with me because objectively I don't think the episode was very good at all and yet somehow I really enjoyed it.

I'm new at the episode ( Read more... )

Hi! *waves* I'm here via jeannev. *assaults you with my friendship*
Hi! *graciously accepts*

Both in Metallo and Upgrade, there was a moment where I was struck by the realization that under different circumstances Clark and John could have been great friends.
I hadn't thought about that but you're so right.

Chloe betrayed Clark, and chose Davis over Jimmy, so I never could muster up much sympathy for her.
Chloe made her own bed so I certainly won't argue against that. But I do think the Corben situation could have easily spun out of control and made Lois look pretty bad. Lois never tasered Clark (thankfully) but she did leave him completely out of the loop just as Chloe used to do with Jimmy. And the "Blur" asks Lois explicitly for information about what was going on in Tess' lab and I don't think Lois ever actually told him. Instead Lois took it upon herself to "save" this soldier Tess designed specifically to be able to defeat the "Blur." And while Lois does have a degree of ignorance in her favor here because she doesn't know for sure what purpose Tess has in mind for Corben IMO those dots aren't too hard to connect. So I do think Lois' actions could be construed as having betrayed the "Blur" especially if the events in the FoS had gone differently.
I did like Tess and Chloe together, but that was about 90% Cassidy Freeman.
I did get to watch again last night and they weren't necessarily bad together as much as not as good as usual. One thing just wish wish wish had happened is Tess implying she'd made the Chloe connection to Watchtower especially considering she apparently knows about Chloe and Oliver.

I just think that had Tess simply mentioned that she wasn't too worried about Checkmate because fortunately for her she isn't their primary target it would have shut Chloe up much more effectively.

If you end up venturing over to my journal, please know that I am a complete spoiler whore for Smallville, but I put everything behind a cut with warnings.
I've been spoiled most of the season but I'm trying to pull back a bit as we head for the finale. I don't mind smaller spoilers I just don't want to accidentally stumble on any of the big things. So long as they're hidden behind the cut I'll definitely venture your way. :)
