Okay Portland, I'ma take a stand on this transit stupidity.
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?
The transit here WORKS. You've already got a goddamn (kinda ludicrously redundant, but anyway) streetcar that goes to PSU. And buses. Why does the light rail have to go there too?
OH RIGHT IT DOESNT.
Have you ever been to Chicago? I have! And guess what sucks?

Why do you have to fuck with it here? It works SO WELL. When I wait for a train to be there at 8:16, goddamn, it's there at 8:16, not 8:17, certainly not 8:32.
Okay, sometimes the Sandy bus is late, but still. I've lived in places where you simply have to guess when the bus or train will arrive, and it's NOT FUN.
And it's not just little ol' knowin'-nuthin'-about-how-things-work me saying this. Former trimet planners, academic peeps, SO MANY PEOPLE are asking this same WHAT ARE YOU THINKING question.
It's gonna make the downtown into a fucking mess for a year and a half, which is okay if it, y'know, actually helps things. And, y'know, it WOULD be nice to get federal money to prevent the Steel Bridge from falling down.
But seriously.
Have you seen that one episode of...Popeye, I think it is? A black and white cartoon, with a parrot singing a song with the words "leave well enough alone."
