Because when you (I) read a story about "love transcending time, returning over and over in its many forms, as faithful as the sea" that is so tragically beautiful that it makes you (me) cry (serious-can't-breathe-sobbing), first you attempt to process, then you wonder in amazement. Then you (I) have to write a counterpoint to get your life/head/heart back into balance. Therefore:
Lover's Lament
It all started fairy tale. Our story never could go wrong.
We could never fail. Our bond was that forever strong.
Now my heart's in two, lying broken on the dirty floor
Wondering what to do because I don't want you anymore.
It all started storybook. You came along and saved the day.
First sight was all it took to sweep my willing heart away.
Now I walk alone, away from us and out the door
Standing tall on my own because I don't need you anymore.
It all started fantasy: a noble knight shining so bright
Riding in gallantly on a graceful steed of perfect white.
Now the mask is lifted, but a knavish rogue left at his core.
Leaving my heart twisted because I don't love you anymore.
It all started reverie. Our foolish hearts that dared to dream.
Such new discoveries, ready to follow in love's grand scheme.
Now as I awake I find a nightmare I can't endure.
Letting my heart break because I can't love you anymore.
It all started epic. As if writing a beautiful myth.
So quite poetic finding one to spend forever with.
Now the story's end, though not the undying love we swore
Ready to transcend because I won't love you anymore.
