Okay, so, my little inner fanboy just about exploded. Not just from how awesome and affecting this episode was, not just for how much love I have for Catherine Tate now, and for her mum and her seriously awesome grandfather.
One episode turns Donna's mum from a shrill harpy to someone we care about. One episode shows us that, in fact, a universe without the Doctor would *suck*. This one doesn't just claim it, it *shows* it.
I don't care if it might legitimately be called fanwank; it's also very much what ordinary viewers are going to buzz about as well.
And yes, I know *that person* is going to show up, and honestly I'm a bit over Daleks. Make that a LOT over them. Even the best enemy becomes tiresome through repetition. And in the past four years, we've seen every cool thing I ever really wanted to see with them, bar one or two -- and I suspect we'll see those soon enough.
And then, one hopes, we'll be able to move on.
yay!,
fandork,
