So
docthestampede,
chefakito, and I went to Atlantic City and basically blew a weekend playing.
Well, once I got there, at least. Horrible traffic jam meant an hour lost and then a detour into the wilds of Route 40 in Jersey. But I got there.
The weather was NOT what I was expecting; I soon switched from shorts to jeans and from sandals to shoes, and was glad I'd brought a hoodie with me because it saw nearly constant use. Ah well, it got prettier today.
Once we all arrived and met up, it was off to various games. Terry and Scott mostly played poker at first, though Terry succumbed to craps, and Scott had far better luck with slots. Roulette quickly proved dangerous for me, and having seen the signs, I switched gears, and spent my bucks on penny and nickel slots instead. The Bewitched game was particularly kind to me, and Serena in particular; Hexbreaker was pretty solid, too. At one point, I'd built my $20 initial stake to about $350, but of course I eventually spent it all playing other games. (I particularly lost on the I Dream of Jeannie game -- far fewer payoffs, though it does have real Barbara Eden voiceover instead of recycled sound clips.
Dinner Saturday was at Mia, followed by a trip to the Borgata where I witnessed an authentic Guido vs Trophy Girlfriend argument at close range. Lots of heavily made up women in very tiny skirts, and FAR more botox-paralyzed faces than anyone should see sober. Luckily they gave me a fair amount of comped Jameson's, so I'm content. Solid diner breakfast, pleasant walk along the boardwalk, a little playtime in the casino, tasty fish-and-chips dinner in an Irish pub, and then a painless drive home.
This was *exactly* what I needed.
