Yes, and I've done that sort of commute before -- and I'm here to tell you, i'd prefer a 1.5-hr commute where an hour of it is on the subway. I used to get a lot of reading done that way.
Sitting in stop-and-go traffic, wondering why you aren't moving because traffic updates NEVER include the route you're on, SUCKS. It's utterly wasted time.
I seem to recall hearing on the news recently that Americans spend, on average, the equivalent of 20 work days a year -- an entire month -- stuck in traffic. And the amount of carbon that goes into the atmosphere from that 20-day traffic jam hardly bears thinking about.
I humbly apologize, Seamus... I had been grousing to myself because my commute has gone up from 10 to about 20-25 minutes. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa...
