I had stuff that needed to get done this weekend, and I did *some* of it, but not nearly enough. However, I had a lot of fun.
Saturday I had to vacate the premises for the middle of the day, so I had arranged to go have lunch with the grandparents and then go visit Zoe for her birthday. (I'd then planned to come home and get some packing/dejunking done, but that didn't happen.)
So Granny fed me a turkey sandwich and I sorted out her TV so it'll record her soaps properly, and then we went over to a new store at White Marsh, Boscovs, to see what they had. I spotted a nice purple ladies' henley and when she agreed it might look good on her, I snapped it up and bought if for her birthday. HAH! (She does it to me all the time! Turnabout is fair play!)
Then it was off to my goddaughter's place. I had planned to go over after the little kid party was done, so I wouldn't have to face 11 five-year-olds, and when I arrived the girls were cataloging Zoe's loot haul. Oh, the princess stuff that kept pouring in. But when I gave her Little Mermaid on DVD, she was so excited she couldn't talk -- turns out that Ariel is her *absolute* favorite princess of all. She's got Ariel sheets, and her birthday party plates were Ariel, but she hasn't actually seen the movie yet. I also gave her a nice edition of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (the book), and the cutest stuffed Max (the dog from that book), with a stupid little reindeer antler on his head. I even found a Princess Barbie card. She was very happy. She showed me her recently painted room (pink), and some of her crafts -- she makes these little books all by herself, where she draws animals and writes their names. Before long I was gifted with a picture of a blue hippo (which is hanging behind me at the office).
Later we went for a walk to the playground, and then I treated her and her moms out for Chinese -- turns out it was Zoe's first time at a Chinese restaurant. Lots of fun there -- she's pretty adventurous about anything except spicy stuff (we'll work on that eventually). Then it was home and bed for her, and Shae & Eileen and I sat around talking for a couple of hours.
Sunday morning, some idiot black dude looking for "keisha" kept calling, convinced that she was here. Six times. Before 7 am on a sunday.
If I ever meet that bitch Keisha, I will strangle her with a telephone cord.
When I finally woke up, I got sucked into watching VICTOR/VICTORIA, which has many of my favorite actors in it: Julie Andrews, Robert Preston, James Garner, John Rhys-Davies, Lesley Ann Warren...it's a treasure. Then I read and vaguely puttered around the house doing laundry and such -- but I kept falling asleep and had no energy. Finally I relented and took an hour's nap, at which point I felt *much* better. Off to BJs and Wal-mart for necessities, and then did dinner at Cheeburger Cheeburger with Mark & Kathy. Fantabulous milkshakes and fries and onion rings -- actually, the burgers were great too, and the salad was pretty solid as well. So hooray, for the win. At home I did a bit more tidying and cleaned the bathroom, and then tucked in to watch Batman Beyond Season Two....which I bought along with AVATAR season one and a special VOLTRON collection...(can't...stop....buying...dvds...) I eventually went to bed a bit early and slept like a dead man.
Note to self: must turn on humidifier tonight!
Anyway, in general it was a fun, but not as productive as I'd like, weekend.
