Miles clocked in relation to Otakon activities: 102
So Friday night was filled with Otakon-related activities -- dinner, making sure folks were checked in properly, and pre-meeting chats. (Solved an interesting Staff dilemma, I think, as a result of that.)
Saturday was _way_ busy. BOD meeting, then general meeting, then working groups. Got our act together for the remaining key contracted services, I think -- will follow up with BCC, security company, Aramark, and Arena folks this week.
After the meeting, we ended up at Red Robin, where I had some pretty tasty Salmon served fish-and-chips style, and then a little over a dozen of us went bowling.
While fun, it proved ultimately painful. First, I wasn't bowling very well, which I will TOTALLY blame on the lanes, and here's why: they were dry, and the floor was apparently wet. THis means my footing went awry and at one point I simply failed to slide and took a sudden and spectacular spill, landing on my left knee with a resounding CRACK! that literally stopped the entire bowling alley for a moment. Rather unbelievably, I didn't do myself much real harm, as near as I can tell -- just a fairly painful bone bruise and a bit of swelling -- and I was able to bowl after I'd rested up a bit. But by that point it was hopeless.
Then it was a mad race to get Terry to the bus station in time, and then back to the hotel where we watched BLOODY AMAZING series finale for Justice League Unlimited. (Word to the wise: if Superman says to you anything like the following, you should just leave. Even if you're Darkseid.)
"That man won't quit as long as he can still draw a breath. None of my teammates will. Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard. Always taking constant care not to break something. To break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment or someone could die. But you can take it can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am."
Man, what a finale.
Sunday morning, it was off to breakfast with Kat and Alex at Bob Evans, and then back to my place to give Fuu some attention. Then off to my folks' place for Mother's day. We picked up Granny & Grampa John, and met Chris and Wes and Wes's folks at Houlihans down by the Aquarium. (They've always been invited but have never actually shown up before this year; but as Gracie put it, she just couldn't face sitting at home on mother's day, having just lost a son.)
Dinner itself was amazing -- everything they put on the table was tasty, and I *loved* the wing sauce. So much so that I asked if I could get some to take home, and impressed the chef by guessing most of the ingredients -- he filled in the blanks and gave me a container full. We all had a very good time, and we'll *definitely* be back.
Dad's hearing aids work a charm. It's possible to converse more or less normally with him again. Also, he verified via a sleep study that has pretty bad sleep apnea. So another treatable woe is identified and will soon be addressed -- which makes us all very happy.
