My family and I are probably heading down to Miami later tonight or tommorow morning around 7 AM...I think. I dont know, it is real chaos over here. Well, we didnt go this morning, so I decided to run some speed at Jackson so I didnt have to worry about it during Miami. I am glad I did because now...I have a story to tell I call it The Odyessy...
I get there at about 11 AM, which is really later than I hoped, but right when I get there all these Sum. Rec. kids come out onto the track too. Well I figure they'll be done in a little bit so I start stretching and getting ready to do my work. As I toe the line and am about to hit my stop watch, the woman counselor just yells out I WANT ONE PERSON IN EVERY LANE. This woman was a psychopath. She was seriously yelling at these 5th graders like she was Bobby Knight --- she made one kid cry. Well, the kids line up and that takes them awhile and they all go. They ran the quarter in like 1:50ish...I timed them...lol...Then the guy counselor is talking to the other group of boys and he's kind of motivating them. And he says alright guys 2 laps even though I know you can do 4, and then the woman just yells out NO THEY CAN ONLY DO 1 THEY ARENT THAT ENDURANT - WELL MAYBE and she pointed at some kid. How you going to do that? How you going to call out every other little boy besides this cat? Then one kid told her where the lines were to stagger-start and she was like HOW MANY YEARS DID YOU RUN TRACK? I MANAGED TRACK FOR 2 YEARS!....the kid was right about where the lines were...lol...I seriously wanted to slap that woman.
Then Trev drove by and gave me a water bottle which saved my life. We joked about the woman counselor too...lol...The Sum. Rec finally got off the track and I ran my speed. It was alright, a little fast and a little slow. Then some old guy that was walking the track started talking to me...good man. Then I went and got some water at Jackson and I saw Laura in there. I think I'd enjoy being a counselor at something like Sum. Rec., as long as I dont got to work with the pyscho-bitch counselor...hehe. Wouldve stayed and talked with Laura but I didnt know if I was supposed to be in there sweaty and shirtless in the first place...lol...Went out and finished with some strides and slammed my foot into that wooden table by the track. That old man that was walking on the track was still going and I was just doing strides so I figured I'd take an outside lane. As I ran by I moved into lane 6 to throw my watch onto the table and BAM I almost busted ass. Jogged it back in for a cooldown and now I have passed on this story to many a generation. I think despite being sore and tired, doing speed today was just what I needed to prepare me for Miami. I will miss this place for the week, but surely I will be having a kick-ass time in Miami. So have fun folks, and dont get into to much trouble without me. I will see the teams at Wickiva and I will see everyone else sometime around the 2nd of August. Call me up later, if I am not leaving til' tommorow maybe we can do something tonight.
Have fun...
