'Twas the Night Before Christmas

By "Joe"

'Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the streets,

A boy named Manning was trying to accomplish a feat.

For he was told, by a boy with red hair,

That if he ran fast enough a legend would appear.

Manning encountered many familiar things along his way,

Keep reading to find out if he accomplished his feat that day.

He tied his shoes and sped down a first mile,

When who to his wandering eyes appeared but Kyle.

Kyle was in a crowd of homeboys and G's,

and despite not having a license, in his hands were his car keys.

Seeing Kyle was healthy, Joe asked if he wanted to run,

Kyle said he had already ran at Gibson and he was done.

Joe knew he hadn't ran after Kyle said to tell Coach he was sick,

As Manning ran off he heard Kyle ask someone, "what do you know about dick?"

Manning kept running, and in his mind he sang a song,

Then he noticed something smelled like Cheech and Chong.

"Now son, listen here, there is something you should know,"

"you're real name is Joseph, not  "Joe"

Manning knew this and as he ran he heard Coach scream,

"Son, this year, the young guns is all going under fifteen!"

Still later he met more of his common men,

Ivan, Mike, Taurasi and Chris Ferguson.

Joe was exhausted and on his face it was showing,

But the guys knew just what would keep him going.

As Manning neared, the pain was so much he could scream,

At that time, Chris handed him a cone of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.

Joe ran through Hickory Hills, and then onto Park.

He ran and ran until it had gone past dark.

All the cars sped by and there was nowhere for Joe to hide,

For Danny wasnt there so Joe had to take the safe side.

He felt lost after the turn he had just came around,

But knew it was Barna for all the car windows were down.

Along the grass of Barna he continued his run,

Here he realized how much he missed the sun.

Joe found himself at Parish, where no light shone,

For around this turn was the darkest place ever known.

Along that turn even fear was afraid.

That very spot is where evil is made.

Joe ran and wished for more light - and to his surprise

The path became lighter after he closed his eyes.

The lights seemed to dim as the road still went on,

It seemed if true dark came and all light was gone.

Out from the depths of darkness Joe fled,

Afraid - "Adrian?" he desperately said.

From shadows a man appeared and Joe fleed

"Don't worry 'bout this distance all you need is SPEED!"

Manning recognized the voice and sharply turned around,

But just darkness, Coach Carlos was nowhere to be found.

Wondering if Carlos was all just in his mind,

Joe hadn't the time for he had a legend to find.

Manning kept on, but slowed in despair,

For he began to think a legend would not appear.

He went through the Hamlet and no longer went slow,

After being chased for three blocks by the monstrous Gizmo.

He had been running all night,

And there still was no legend in sight.

He stopped and put his head in his hands,

Then suddenly a clatter arose in the sands.

Joe found his legend who ran off shouting the knowledge -

"DANNNNNNNNNNNNG ITTTTT I KNEW I SHOULD'VE WENT TO COLLEGE"

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY...
