Went to see Green Day at SBC Park on Saturday. The band was set up in the outfield, so the sound took a half a second or so to reach us, which was both amusing and annoying. We could see the band projected on remarkably high resolution giant screens, but it was like watching a movie with the soundtrack badly off sync. On the other hand, if we wanted to sing along, we could get pretty good lyric cues by lip reading ahead of the note. Kinda cool watching people dance too, with the field completely out of phase with the stands.
But one definite positive about concerting in a baseball park is that there are no limits to the pyrotechnics.
Also went to 1015 to see Paul Van Dyk. It was the loudest freakin 3 hours. The bass was so powerful the ground shook twice with each beat and the hair on my head just resonated continuously. I contemplated leaving the club several times for some silence but ended up bopping around with small wads of toilet paper stuck in my ears. I have no shame. Had a hell of a time getting to sleep that night cuz my ears wouldn't stop ringing.
