It's funny, the other day my P.Moral teacher asked a question somewhere along the lines of 'What will you do if you face a problem?' I was frowning and hoping she won't pick me to answer it, because the question was very vague. What kind of problem? Under what circumstances?
At the same time I was also wondering, yes, what will I do? My mind shouted 'Think! Use your head! Surely it can be solved, whatever it is.'
But what my friend said really surprised me - 'Ask for help.' And apparently, most of my friends agreed. I was like, huh?
I inherited it from my parents, I finally realised last Sunday. They will never ask for help, unless it's life-threatening or something like that . And then they will complain, 'Why didn't you help? Didn't you see we were working our ass off back there?' I didn't dare to say what was dying to come out. 'Dude, if you want help, why didn't you just ask?'
That was before I realised I'm exactly like them, of course. But aren't we supposed to do things ourselves? Not by ourselves, I mean, we can socialise and help out and everything, but if it's our responsibility to do it, why ask for someone else's help?
I have a very fierce pride, I realised. I wonder if it's a good thing.
