Blossom doesn’t know how they got here, never knows how they got here, and she’s a little startled by the lapse in her memory; more than startled - she’s scared. She’s scared because she’s not pushing him away. She’s scared because there’s something almost gentle in the way his thumb presses into the indentation of her collarbone, how his fingers rest against the back of her neck. The only thing that assures her the touch is his is the fact that the hand is almost but not quite encircling her throat, a latent threat.
His mouth is hot on hers, and kissing him feels less like love - not love, not this, not him, never him - and more like a fight. The kiss is distinctly Brick, more familiar, safer, than the touch. Blossom knows how to fight him like this; if she’d been that kind of girl, she might even have called it fun. She’s less sure what to do about the hand on her throat, or the fingers creeping up her thigh. She thinks she should stop him. She doesn’t. Her knuckles are white as she grips his upper arms.
There’s a knee between her legs, nudging her thighs apart. It’s another one of those deceptively gentle gestures. He’s not asking. She wonders what he would do if she refused, and then she wonders why she hasn’t already.
He doesn’t hesitate when he encounters the hemline of her skirt. The calluses on his fingers send a shiver up her spine, and he pulls back long enough to smirk at her with something approaching satisfaction before diving back in with renewed vigor. He’s trying to distract her from her own ire, from the hand inching inexorably up her thigh, skimming inward, fingers stretching, questing, reaching for her -
Panic rises up in Blossom, deep and dark and overwhelming. She tears her mouth from his, shoves him violently, biting back the disappointed, almost pained groan that tries to leap from her throat at the sudden cessation of his touch.
Brick doesn’t fight her.
