Sometimes I don't think...

Things I have learned in previous winters:

1) When they tell you not to slam on your breaks, they really mean it. You might end up slamming into the siderail at speeds just low enough to make the experience non-life-threatening and hilarious and just high enough to scare the crap out of you.

2) Don't go to Walmart with four other people in a car that doesn't get good traction on regular days.

Things I learned last night:

1) Old energy drink cans make good tools for scraping ice off windshields (because I think maybe 15% of people in Texas have an ice scraper thing)...

2) But they scratch your windows. Go fig. It looks like my car got in a fight with a cat with diamond-tipped claws. And lost.

3) People don't drive slow even though they should. I can forgive the drivers in cars, trucks, and suburbans, but what's the 18-wheelers' excuse?

5) We really do freak out over the combination of precipitation and cold. My grandpa's night sitter didn't show up, and the paperguy didn't come by. Suck it up, babies!

6) Waiting until the next morning to drive home does not mean that there will be less traffic or that the ice will be gone.

Good times. At least it wasn't too bad. There was sand everywhere on the roads and overpasses.

Oh. Hey. I've got my computer back. Everything's up to date and working just fine, but we haven't had a chance to try and recover everything on my old drive. *crosses fingers for the fics and music that never got backed up*
