Well, it seems about time that I kick this infectious habit of updating a meaningless blog filled with meaningless quizzes. I have noticed that I am not very good at sticking to things I say I am going to do (e.g. homework, diets, quitting LJ in the first place). So, in order to save myself from never doing anything I am going to start with the

There are over 8 million LJ users who are able to update regularly and maintain a social life. It's not hard, and leaving LJ and MySpace altogether won't solve all the woes.
But about what you've just said: "I was just informing people I wouldn't be around much on here." People aren't total idiots. Most of us have the mental capacity to recognise when someone's cutting back on posts.
We can also tell when someone's lobbying for attention by making their second "I'm leaving forever and you can't make me stay" post. It's just proverbial wannabe jumper looking out over the ledge, thinking he wants to jump.
And the whole time, all he really needs is to see the people he knows, down below, asking him to come to his senses and letting him know he's welcome here.
My only point being, why not try to attain a substantial social life and update on the cool things you do with your job and hobby? Or, at the least, be like everyone else who's left recently and not post "Oh, I'm really leaving this time!"

P.S. I don't think you'll do it.

nextly, I understand that people can notice when I am not updating, but why should I just stop updating and have people ask me, are you ok, you haven't been updating, or what happened you haven't been updating..so to save them time, and myself time I tell them...pretty simple
and no I'm not lobbying for attention, did I mention even once in that update that I wanted anyone to say hey don't go?...did anyone say hey don't go? no and no...I don't care if people want me to stay...I was just informing people of what I was doing...
to the last bit, I can mantain a substantial social life, but I want to do it without livejournal...the internet, I've discovered is to impersonal for me...I'd prefer a phone call...
