This post dates back fairly far. I'll try to lead up to today (Valentine's Day+1), but it all started when my family and I traveled to Tupelo to celebrate Vietnamese New Year.

On the way, my mother told my brother that he had horrendous breath, and demanded that we stop and he brush his teeth. So we did, and here's documented proof.

The toothbrush.

So we arrived at Uncle's House. He has a band. Their sound is...different. It's very....Vietnamese.
Which by the way, before you go on with the post, you really should watch this video. This is a very accurate representation of what Vietnamese music would sound like if they were singing English instead of Vietnamese. The lyrics sound like this in Vietnamese also, they just decided to sing in English for once. I'm telling you. If you think Emo or Country is depressing, Vietnam is a country ravaged by war, and if anything they know a thing or two about being depressed.

Anyways, going on with the post, here's my uncle's band. They don't have a band. They're just the "Uncle Harry's House Band"

Moon Cake. Tastes like...the moon?

Lucky money tree?

Dad, Mom, and Hugh. Some family in the background.

'Twas also my cousin Cecelia's Birthday.

Then, like how the Jewish have dreidels, we have "Lucky Chess" as it's called on the box. We actually call it "Bau Cua" which means Gourd Crab. Yeah, don't ask. You just bet money on which animal you think the dice will land on, and if you win, you win.

Oh yeah, more band pics. This time with my cousin in law singing.

Vietnamese Baby.

Bau Cua.

CHURCH??

Puppies. Way too many of them.

Since it was the year of the Dog. My dad decided we'd bring one home. This is our new puppy. His name was originally Happy, as decided by my father, though after much deliberation, our dog is now named "Fonzie."

Fast forward to next wednesday/open mic night. Akihiro came and saw me sing. What a nice guy.

The talented Mr. Jerry Walters.

MC Crazy J

Okay. Nowww it's Birthday party time.
PAT.

Birthday cake. It reads: "Happy 41st, May & Ju" since May was turning 20, and I was turning 21. We saved frosting.

Ironically, Bethany and Hanner baked a red velvet cake with white frosting and blue icing also. I think ours looks a little more festive.

Awww, May! May looks very good in this picture. As she tends to do in most all other pictures anyway.

I forgot what I wished for. But something tells me it had to do with the next day.

You can dance if you wanna.

Matt. What a Thug.

Chill out, man!

Some kind of bottle accident there.

Blayne's gonna kill me when she sees this picture. Sorry darling, I hope you still love me!

Brian and Hannah, going at it.

The gorgeous Miss Naef-Ammon.

Sleepiness?

Pat gave himself to me for my twenty first birthday.

Hot.

HOT.

Uhh?

UHH??

Hottttt. Ginger looked very gorgeous that night. As did alot of people.

Blurrr.

Here's the sequence.

Sooooooooo.

The next day. We (Me, _di, mcsspitfire, blondiusmaximus, and missoblivious) all got into a car and drove to Atlanta to see my true love, Leslie Feist.

We got there, went to Savage Pizzer. Totally good. May and I went Vinyl shopping, and picked up stuff for Brian and Hannah also. Then on to the Variety, where I ordered my second beer, but first as a twenty one year old. The guy wished me a happy birthday and said, "You enjoy that now." (In reference to the beer.) And enjoy, I most certainly did.

Anyways, Jason Collett went on first.

And Julian and the other guy from Feist's band came out to play on some songs, like Feral Republic.

And then! Leslie came out on one of his songs to play drums! She's a great drummer! Who knew?

Right right, so set change.

And thennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
My heart melts.

Then it was just her in a black dress. Soooooo sexy.

And then the besssssssssssssssst part of my trip.

Ready for it?

I met Leslie!!

She's also an aquarius, though her birthday falls on February 13th. (Two days ago.) I gave her a birthday gift (A Vinyl copy of Eli and the 13th Confession by Laura Nyro) and she loved it! I told her I did covers of her at Open Mic night, and she wanted to hear what it sounds like, so she asked me to send in some recordings to her. Total total total excitement. She's so nice!!

Anyhow, we went back to the hotel, and partied like rockstars. Very very tired rockstars.

Good morning, Asshole!

We went to Ikea, where I had applecake. I definitely thought about dothefrug, considering how much she loves Ikea and Apples.

And that was about it, really. So now you know.

Ohhhh yeah, today. Valentine's day. I had a date, but at the end, we/I decided we'd be better off as friends. I made some hella delicious food though. I should have photographed it.

And two more things.
First, next week, I think I'm going to start doing a friends-only underground pizza delivery service to friends who:
- have my phone number
- like pizza
- live in the Hattiesburg Area
- are willing to pay roughly $6-$10 for a 16 in. pizza

It's going to be called:

Tentatively, there will be pretty good options.
Examples of which may however not guaranteed to include the ability to put the following on your pizza:
- homemade pesto
- fire roasted peppers
- jelly beans
- いか
- とんかつ
- ヘッロキッチ
- ???

Operating hours would be in the vicinity of whenever I feel like it. And doing pickup as opposed to delivery takes off $1 from your tab.
So yeah, any suggestions would be great.

Secondly!
I was tagged eons ago to do the "top seven songs you can't stop listening to right now."
But I'm not gonna do that.
Instead, I'm going to do five, and make it a "every time I post" feature (hopefully.)
Not only that, I'll make them available for download.
In no particular order:
1.) Broadcast - Papercuts
This song has a really classic kind of sound that's a little reminescent of Portishead to me. I think I like it, however, due to the fact that it's Broadcast, and not because it sounds like Portishead.

2.) Jason Collett - Feral Republic
I can't quite pinpoint it, but this is my favorite song that has a "Country Western" kinda feel to it. Well, it's tied with "Big Guns" by Jenny Lewis, but everyone's heard that already, so I won't include it.

3.) CDOASS - Atomic Stitch
CDOASS, which I think stands for something like Corporate Dancehalls of a Subjective Sister?? is one of those bands that are really really really dancy. Pete Almqvist of the Hives says it's his favorite band, not just because they're Swedish, but because they're dancy as hell. This track is one among many of the gems on the album.

4.) Kings of Convenience - Gatekeeper (Feist Cover)
This is a cover of one of my favorite and most often covered Feist songs, Gatekeeper. It has a really nice feel to it, and Erland and the other guy's voices are amazing. The piano sounds good too. And speaking of piano...

5.) Gonzales - Dot
Off of his latest album; solo piano, Gonzales indicates that he has quite an impressive piano composition skill/technique. His style reminds me alot of Bill Evans, Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, and all the other important impressionist/modal piano players. This is a really good song. It's been referred to as sounding like music that would come out of Amelié, or even by a long stretch, something that might've been written by Jon Brion. Regardless, it's written by Gonzales, who by the way produces Feist's album(s).

Well! Guess who has class in five and a half hours.
I'm also miffed that mum's making me drive back home tonight since I have an ortho appointment bright and early. It means no open mic night this week. I might play in Jackson if there's one there.

Yeah that's it. Hope everyone's alright.
