I'm pretty boring about all of this.pickledherringSeptember 3 2008, 17:47:37 UTC
#1 Reason To Vote For John McCain If I were a fetal alcohol syndrome baby and I didn't know any better.
#1 Reason(s!) To Vote Again John McCain My positions are not in line with his positions, his voting record, or his ideals. Additionally, I think our economic health rests in part between the switch between republican and democrat and we need a dem now. I think it's hilarious that he picked Palin, and that's the only thing I've liked because it breaks the Perfect Politician image. (I'm always in favour of that for everyone! Wheee!)
#1 Reason To Vote For Obama: At this point in my life, with what I know and have researched and thought about and debated, I think his positions - in action - would be the best thing for the most people and for our future and for our international relations and, you know, everyone country world affected by America directly or indirectly. Which would be all of them. (We're interdependent whether we like it or not, dammit.)
#1 Reason To Vote Against Obama: One, I'm not impressed with Toothepaste Smile Biden. (Break them up into self-governing portions? Look, one size does not fit all!) Two, I'd like some fucking detail. This goes for EVERYONE and is not Obama specific. (Oh, you're going to do XYZ? That's nice. And just how do you think you're going to do that? Magic pixie dust out of your ass? I thought so.) GIVE ME DETAILS
Cap up: Issues are the only shit I pay attention to regarding politics and I make up my own damn mind about everything. I take a position - when I take one - through sometimes years of careful research and reading and analysis - current and projected future.
That's how I change my mind when I change it, too. I'll argue, read, compare, contrast, disagree, etc., for as long as it takes me to get a grasp on an issue and explore its many sides - even then I know I'm always only seeing part of it. But that's my approach.
Source it. Research, compare, analyze, weigh - THINK. I don't always know what the right answer is. (I rarely know what the right answer is.) I vote for the candidate that best represents my (fluid/current) conclusions. I give no fuck about anything else. Except - please, Obama, just mean who you are. That I can respect. And I'd like to respect my president.

re your request for details - i am actually skeptical of plans that are TOO detailed during election seasons. it seems like it will inevitably result in broken promises.

Yeah, I can get that. But I'd like something that has a framework. It doesn't have to have dates or get crazy detailed - there is a lot they can't control!, but a nice general outline of the direction they are going to attempt this in would be reassuring. I might think they were doing more than posturing...
Not that you can always warn people of your intent. SURPRISE POLITICAL ATTACK!
