Kurenai sighed. She had finally given up on her qualm against the festival and decided to go. Not that it really eased anything. But why the hell not? Was there really something to be afraid of or was she just being obnoxiously paranoid?

In any case, she was there and it was a bit late to chicken out. In all do honesty, she wasn't enjoying it. As ( Read more... )

*step step* a faint sound rang out. A sound no one noticed as it was accustomed in the village for Jounin and ANBU alike to bounce aroud on the rooftops.

Asuma knew it was time for him to let go of the pain he felt from the city. The pain of his father's death and the death of Asuma's drive. He felt as though he no longer needed to prove himself to anyone. The only reason he tried so hard was to show his father the strength he had. And now that he was gone, it was as if Asuma had nothing left. Just an empty shell.

Asuma divorced his father and the name of Sarutobi when his father did nothing to stop Asuma's older brother from leaving the village. Asuma hated his father for what happened. The name Asuma he kept out of respect for his Mother. The one who protected and cared for him. It was hard seeing her died. The thought still brought tears to Asuma's eyes. Standing beside her bed, tears streaming down his and his brother's faces. Both of their sobes echoing in the air. And all their father had to say. The Great Third Hokage. Was cruel. "Rule 25. A Shinobi mustn't ever show emotion."

Pushing the thought from his head he looked up and could faintly see the mounumental mountain carving. The one containing all of the heads of the Hokage. The carver still wasn't finshed with the Fifth Hokages image. But that didn't matter to him. All he was looking for was his father's face.

Seeing it, Asmua bowed his head tears still falling down his face, and said "You really did care old man. I'm sorry for adding to your pain when I left. I would be proud to have that great name of Sarutobi once more. If you will allow me."

Asuma felt warm inside. He knew his Father and his Mother's love still encircled him. And he was happy. He knew they wanted him to have that name again. As Asuma raised his head slowly he caught a glimpse of Kurenai, and he stared. "She is amazing." He said softly, looking down on her. He wondered how she really felt about him.

Asuma wiped the tears from his eyes, and shouted, "Hey, Kurenai? You okay?"

Sighing, Kurenai was totally zoned out. Counting the various people that passed one-by-one with their brightly *Sometimes garish* patterns in their kimono or whatever they decided to show up in. The female began idly tapping her foot out of her body's natural response to boredom. She wondered why she hadn't decided to track down Ino, Sakura, Hinata, or even Kakashi for that matter. Waste of her valuable time... But, then again, what was she to do back at home? Sit there and... Write or something?

Hey, Kurenai? You okay?

The voice broke her immediate train of thought and rather bland outlook on the whole situation.

"Asuma-san?" She looked up, noticing the former anguish, "I should ask you the same question."

"I'll be fine." Asuma said knowing that no matter how much he tried to hold it in, it was odvious that something was on his mind.

Looking down at Kurenai, Asuma saw nothing but beauty. "You look incredible. Whoever your meeting here is one lucky guy." He said to her as he jumped down from the rooftop to be on ground level.

Looking right into her eyes he was sure she could tell he wasn't "fine" like he said he was earlier. But he didn't care. He knew something was on her mind. Something that would make her actually come out to one of these things.

"I can see your not enjoying yourself. What's on your mind?" Asuma said calmly, with a slight grin on his face, never turning his sight from her gleaming eyes. He almost wished for her to say she had been waiting for him. But he knew it would be to good to be true.

The female cast a lazy look off to the side. He was right. She wasn't enjoying herself, but what was she going to tell him? Her crazy fairytale about the constant paranoia that had been plaguing her mind for months about this stupid, stupid festival? No. She was crazy enough in her own mind. Asuma was the last person Kurenai needed assuming such things. There was too much at stake there.

"I'm not meeting anyone... I'm thinking," she sighed, as if she hadn't done enough of that already, "I didn't even want to come here because of this qualm I've been having. Something bad is going to happen. I can feel it! But, alas, no one would believe me if I said anything."

The fact that Kurenai had said this hadn't registered with her mind. She was going a mile a minute, so it didn't much matter either way, for she probably couldn't stop herself if she had tried.

At first Asuma didn't think anything of the comment. but then he saw the hardened look on her face, and the depth in her eyes. She wasn't joking at all.

Asuma instantly believed her because Kurenai's intuition had proven right countless times in the past. Suddenly the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Asuma was scared for what could happen. Could it be Orochimaru, or maybe Akatsuki was after Naruto again, but what about the other villages.

Asuma had a thousand possible senarios playing through his head. Still looking at Kurenai, not showing his fright. Asuma said "I believe you. You think we should go find Kakashi?"

"Nah," She shook her head, getting up, "I have one person to keep me from an early depature on account of brain avulsion Besides, we haven't done something as just the two of us for some time now."

Kurenai smiled, dusting herself off and waited for a reply.

Asuma was shocked by what Kurenai had said. They both knew something bad was going to happen. But how bad is bad? And there were enough Jounins and ANBU patroling around that if anything bad were to happen, it would surely be taken care of.

She was right, the two of them hadn't done anything in quite sometime. Asuma seemed calmer now. He was sure he was blushing but he didn't care, he wanted to be with her, and have some fun.

"Your right," he said "we haven't done anything for sometime." Asuma was still blushing rubbing the back of his neck and head with his hand, then laughing he said, "I know that I'm not dressed up for the festival, but I hope you wont hold it against me. Where do you want to go?"

Asuma stood tall looking right a Kurenai, hoping that he might finally be able to show her how he really felt.

{Hi ;)!}
