food awards?

yesterday a friend tua pia (yes, big biscuit) suggested having the yummy duck rice at liang seah street for lunch as we were in the area. this is the coffee shop just opposite bugis junction by the way.

however when we reached there, i got side-tracked by the bah chor mee stall at the same location. i do love my bah chor mee. the stall was plastered with foodie reviews and awards so i thought to myself, 'must be good'.

far from it. it wasn't TERRIBLE, but i wouldn't even say it was good, least to say award-winning.

which makes me wonder just how credible these awards are today. if i'm in an unfamiliar hawker centre of coffee shop, i'd naturally be drawn to the stall with more accolades 'cos u trust it means the food must be good. but increasingly i find myself thinking 'wah lau kenna cheated again'.

i guess awards r indicative of quality today, but we just need to be mindful of which awards to look out for. personally, i trust the green book awards the most, with makansutra coming in second.

what awards do YOU trust?

tell juicy-delicious what you think.

juicy n delicious, food
