Greece (part 1?)

Jul 06, 2010 15:36

 Hi my dear readers!
It's been a long time again~
My school has ended just 2 hours ago, yay!

Had a testweek of 1,5 week long, was pure hell, but now I'm done for this year

My birthday is tomorrow, so I really wanted to post before showing my presents, haha.
And the testweek was such hell because;
- I am on the brink of not passing this year
- Mine started earlier than others' because of Latin en Informatica
- I have had some really bad grades back already
- it started one day after I came back from greece, so not fun!

Yes, you read that well, Greece!
As some of you might know I went to Greece with school for a week.
This will probably be a image heavy post, Im sorry!
I'll go trough this amazing trip with you ^^

Our first try was on April 18th.
We were riding the bus.
There were some concerns with a volcano, so we heard that our flight had been delayed for an hour or two.
We arrived at Bruxelles Airport, super exciting of course.
Since our flight was delayed we had to wait before checking in.
Slowly but surely we heard about an ash cloud spreading over Europe, and more and more flights got cancelled.
Luckily not ours.
My friends were happily chatting, and then it happened; ATHENS - CANCELLED.
I said; 'I don't know if you have noticed... but..... *points at board*.....
Utter silence from all the 60 people of our group.
And we stayed like that for an hour, figuring out what to do, disappointed, sad.
We decided to go back to Middelburg.

2nd try - June 18th
Only two days in advance we were sure whether we would go;
after a second ash cloud there were also lots of protests and economic downfall in Greece.
But luckily all went well, and we arrived at 11 o' clock in a 29 degrees Celsius Greece, so warm in the evening!
We also had 1,5 hour time to check out Athens by night :)

Me and my friends drinking Starbucks at the airport
Day 2Our first full day in Athens!
And also the day of Do and my two presentations (we had to be guides for a grade, so the trip was not just for fun, haha)
what we did;
- Romain Agora ; by Do and me
- Acropolis; by Annette and Vera
- Greek Agora; by Do and me
- 4 hours of free time before dinner
- some hours free time after dinner

In the free time we went shopping and walking trough downtown Athens.
I bought so many souvenirs for a lot of people, so broke after that, haha.
Athens is a weird city, it's has some beautiful buildings, ancient places and even mini mountains trough the city, but at the same time a lot of stray animals, broken buildings, broken windows because of the protest and the worst; perverts!
Man, they really stare shamelessly and touch you and say weird things, so nasty. Dutch men are better, they don't do that.
But all in all, I don't dislike the city, but I don't like it either. It was worse than other cities I've seen.

Eating in Greece was also a lot of fun, at midday, we would picnic, so cosy! And in the evening we would go eating out :)

My friend Ghi offers you some Tsaziki

day 3
- Canal of Corint
- Ancient City of Corinth
- Epidauros
- Hotel in Tolos

The canal of Corinth is 80 meters deep.
It looks even deeper in real life, it's so scary~!

The ancient city of corinth wasn't anything special. Only the street that used to be covered in marble was amazing.
Epidauros city was known for it's healing powers, but the most amazing thing was the theater.
the legend is true, all the way upstairs you can still hear a coin fall in the middle of the theater, the acoustic is amazing! An dthe view was stunning too

our teacher singing old Greek songs

then we went to the coastcity Tolos.
it was an awesome hotel at the sea! We went swimming and the sea was just awesome. it was blue, clear and warm (blue seas are the most beautiful thing in the world!) and the pool at the hotel was preheated!
This is the view on the pool from our big balcony

The rest of the post - the other 6 days- dissapeared because my laptop shut down :'(
it was too long to do again, so sorry!
Maybe another day.
It took me 2 hours to do, so I hope I can post it some time again.

Only 4 hours until I'm 17 years old~! :D
