Brooks surprised me with a plane ticket and I'm going to Nevada for part of Spring Break! It will be the first time I've flown in like 5 or 6 years, and I'm so excited about the trip.
I talked to the study abroad counselor, and Germany is looking more and more possible. So nothing is set in stone yet, but as of now I'm preparing to spend the fall in Freiburg doing a program where I would be studying about the European Union. I'd be traveling around Europe, going to Paris, Brussels, Switzerland, Prague, Amsterdam, Oslo, Berlin and several other cities.
Work is going so well, and I feel important. Strama's office is always busy, and I've been writing a lot of drafts to constituents. I'm still a little lost in the legislative process, but I get to basically watch how a bill becomes a law, and am able to work closely with the policy analysts. My official title is "Policy Aide" and I even have a name badge that gets me into the parts of the capitol where the public never goes. Also, being in Austin often has also allowed me to spend more with the Andrews. Last night Andrew Thompson and I had a really good Mexican food dinner, talked for a while, and drove around East Austin. Then I came back to campus, went and saw Carter's show, and ended up having a great night hanging out with Walker and his friends. It was the most fun I've had in a very long time.
Tomorrow I'm going to Austin to do some event for the Texas Future Teachers of America early in the morning, and then I think I am meeting some of Owen's family for lunch in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to seeing them, and I like my weekly dinners with Mark and Sally.
The Megaphone article came out today, they used my picture, which I was not expecting. I thought the article was decent, of course it makes the school look like they've done so much in the situation when they have not, but although I was upset when I read it, it could have been worse. The Sun called and they are running a story in the paper tomorrow, thankfully, no one reads The Sun. The media makes things so much worse, and I hate that they are taking a private matter into the public (well, Georgetown) scene.
I'm also dealing with a legal situation involving my car. I'm trying to take things one step at a time, and hoping for the best. Sometimes I wonder what else can go wrong, since everything has.
Tonight I am going to dinner with Anne, and then might go to a party with Walker and his friends, but probably not since I have to wake up early.
Classes are a mess, and probably will be for a while. Today I felt like I was functioning, and I like it. I'm doing more and more things on my own, and I think it's good for me, even though it's difficult.
