Harley -- Dream 13 -- Why you don't corner the failpony....

Apr 23, 2010 18:33

((Warnings: Violence against raptors. (Don't tell PETA!) and some language. But more seriously, nothing too bad in the dream itself.
Dream Effects: Fear, fear, hunger, more fear, and then finally the thrill of kicking the living crud out of something, and being hungry. And maybe embarrassment.
Note: Like with pretty much most every dream for Harley, it's through his eyes. Other SMT-series/Persona chars will probably recognize the fire as agi-based. (Firestorm = Maragi, far as I can tell, and "Skewer" = Agi + phys. attack...) And just to clarify a detail, for those that know him, I'm putting Harley at about 5'9"-5'10"ish. Not 8'+. Haha. That's part of the puzzle here.... and I'm not defining what kind of raptors, either. Who knows, who cares.
Reminder: Comm lines are open due to the event, so THREADJACKING ENCOURAGED!))

He swung the crossbow in his hands, trying to smash it against the head of one of the raptors that came too close--

oh god those teeth damn monster go away just leave me alone

--and missed. His fingers tightened around the trigger again in a futile effort to shoot it, but it stubbornly refused to let him press it in. It was jammed up, some bit of the mechanics stuck, at the worst possible time, when these things were after him, glaring at him. Something in the back of his mind insisted that they were as hungry as he was, as they sniffed, pressing closer, hissing and growling at and snapping--

those teeth, don't eat me, oh god those teeth, go away I don't want to get eaten again monster go away

--and stepping toward him. He swung the crossbow again, and missed again, as the raptor ducked its head down. He wasn't going to wait around to try it again. Harley turned, and tried to run, pushing through the thick foliage, only to feel one of them snap at the back of his shirt, catching the fabric and tugging it backwards.

They weren't just hunting him. They were toying with him!

He stumbled on a root, already thrown off balance by the raptor's antics, and barely caught himself with his hands, his crossbow falling aside, landing under some ferns.

The mark on the back of his left hand glowed, a bright, golden orange light which quickly crept across his hand and up his arm, in lines that branched as they grew, like a circuit board, over skin that was quickly darkening, graying into an ominous charcoal black... but he was already looking away from it, twisting to push himself back up, a cry rising in his throat. Frustration, desperation, anger--

can't let these monsters kill me go away go away go away

--and maybe it was just the rush from everything that was happening, but his perception wavered for a second. One moment, he was springing up toward the two raptors... and the next, the yell had twisted into a higher, louder sound, nearly like a horse's cry, and the view was full of fire, and there was a scream of pain as the raptor's shrill note joined his. He ripped his head back -- up -- as he butted the noisy creature forward, away from him. The other hurried to turn around in the narrow spaces between the nearby trees, while the first merely scrambled to try to get back up, its hide ripped and bleeding, blackened with soot and reddened from the intense heat. They weren't leaving fast enough, though.

leave me alone go away

He took a breath, pulling back his head, standing straighter, and apparently didn't notice that he was looking down at the raptors, because he didn't pause to contemplate the view from so much higher up than he probably should've been. He gave another odd cry, stepping after them again, arms lifted a bit, though somehow still out of his sight, and the jungle erupted, briefly, into flames all around the raptors, burning their hides, the ground, the leaves on every plant around them, sending them fleeing as quickly as they could, though they stumbled and squealed in pain.

A brief flash of a thought passed through his mind, something about cooking meat, the smell of blood and seared flesh heavy in the air, the heat and the meat oh god it was just like opening the oven while a roast was inside... and as his stomach tightened, suddenly he didn't want the raptors to run any more.

He started to give chase, taking another step after them -- and that tree root sticking up caught him, and sent him right back to the ground a second time, smacking his head hard into a low-hanging tree branch on his way down.

He groaned as he came to again, opening his eyes a moment after that, and pushed himself back up to sitting, slowly, carefully. His skin was back to its normal, peachy, somewhat pale hue, the black mark on the back of his hand dull and deceptively tattoo-like once more, with no trace of the orange, glowing lines anywhere. He put a hand up to his forehead to hold it a moment, and looked up at the branch that had smacked him. At a glance, it was quite likely six, maybe seven feet up off the ground.

He reached for the brown-glowing Dreamberry which had fallen out of his jeans' pocket, even as he looked around for his crossbow among the now-charred foliage.

"Oh, for crying out loud, where did that f--"

The connection was cut then, and with it, thanks to the event, the video feed.
