yoona-centric, yoona/changmin
all the memories of hate and the lies. don't you know eventually we'll pay the price?
this is my very very very very late birthday present for
aoza & it's probably not that good but please do enjoy! ♥
A blanket of white snow has covered the ground. It was only the middle of November but Seoul has already received its first snowfall. Yoona didn’t enjoy the cold snowflakes falling that much, well not after him. She took out the bouquet of flowers she’s had prepared for who knows how long and made her way up the mountain.
The trip up helped her recollect her thoughts and what she would say to him when she reached the top, how she would explain to him her disappearance for such a long time. The hike up also helped her remember all the times they spent together this time of the year because winter was his favorite season. He enjoyed watching the snow fall, flicking snow off her hair, and giving her light kisses on her face to help her melt from the cold weather. It hurt her to bring back these thoughts but they came back like a reflex.
The mountain wasn’t that high, it really wasn’t, but it felt like over a thousand miles for Im Yoona at this moment because every step she took brought her closer to reality and the truth that she’ll have to face sooner or later. Nobody wanted to believe what had happened, especially her, but nobody can rewind time and fix things that have happened in the past.
Finally, she was at the top. She saw him and immediately tears started flooding her eyes. Slowly, she took gentle steps towards him and kneeled down in front, putting the flowers on rest. Her hands instinctively reached out for him, what was left of him that is. The stone felt freezing in her hands and her fingers reached across and swiped against the engraved ‘Here Lies Shim Changmin.’
“Oppa. I’m here. You’re favorite Yoona’s finally here. After three fucking years after the incident, I decided not to be a coward anymore and come see you. Did you miss me? I missed you oppa, I really did.” She couldn’t speak any more with the tears falling down her face. Yoona quickly wiped them away and looked back at the gravestone that was standing in front of her. Reality struck her harder this time.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. This is all my fault. Only if… Only if I didn’t run away that day from you then you’ll still be here holding my hands as we walk around in the winter. I ruined your life, I ended it. Oppa, I’m truly sorry. If-If I could, I’d turn back time and have me being the one sacrificed and not you. You deserved a happy life, a future, you had one planned out perfectly for you. But me being Im Yoona ruined it for you. I’m sorry.”
When she realized that she had no more words to say she slowly stood up and stared at the cold stone once more and said her last goodbyes and headed down the mountain. She wouldn’t be back here any time soon because the pain was too much for her to handle.
