Grievance and a Fish

A really perturbing thing happened last Wednesday. The Greens on Campus agreed to creating, nominating and electing a 'Grievance Officer' for the club. I have nothing against the position- honestly I respect what said Grievance Officer will do, and I also respect the person we elected too. What perturbs and confuses me is that... well, I've been involved in the club for at least a year now, I'm Co-Convener of the bloody thing damn it, and we never felt the need for a Grievance Officer. Now, all of the sudden, we do.

This of course means that, all of the sudden, a 'grievance' has emerged in the club. And also I was wrong in believing that we all knew eachother fairly well enough to directly and honestly point out and sort out any problems that ideally shouldn't occur in people that know eachother at that level of familiarity. This, and the fact we felt the need to dedicate over half a meeting to the creation and election of this position, is what confuses and disturbs me greatly. This breed of anonymity and secrecy amongst a group of people who all know eachother just doesn't sit right with me. I didn't want to make a fuss during the meeting because, as mentioned above, I respect what this new position will provide. But... it just doesn't feel right. It just doesn't.

I think Bob was catching the same kind of vibe from the whole thing too, so hopefully it's not just me that finds the whole idea strange.

Anyway, in other news, I now have a goldfish swimming in my room. He's an co-star in the film I'm working on at the moment, Goldfish. I named him Clauss after the serial-killer-in-a-fish's-body character from American Dad. He looks a little lonely at the moment, so I'm thinking of putting him in the fishpond in our garden after the shoot is done with him. Cute fish though heheh.

Anyway, I'm going to leave it at that, seeing I have a huge wad of work that I should be working on at the moment.

Sayounara, and fare thee well!
