You gotta get yourself a little bit of bad-ass

So, I watched "Dollhouse" on Tuesday night. I thought it was alright, bit of a slow start but has quite an interesting premise, I'll stick with it for a while. I have to say though that (unpopular opinion #1) I don't really rate Eliza Dushku as an actress. I liked her in "Buffy" but what I've seen of her in "Tru Calling" (which, granted, isn't very much) doesn't impress me much, I'm not sure if I think she's a strong enough actress to carry a show. I also (unpopular opinion #2) don't think Joss Whedon is as good as everyone else seems to think he is. Okay, he's quite a good writer but I don't think he's that good.

Oh, also, the other "doll" in it used to be in "Neighbours" - she played Rachel and Zekes annoying older sister Katya. Being annoying must be a Kinski character trait.

Anyway, as I said, I'll probably stick with it as there's not much else on TV on Tuesday evenings apart from "CSI" - which I watch a 9pm, I then watch "Dollhouse" on Sci-fi+1.

As there was nothing on TV last night - Wednesday is the only day a week where I don't watch anything - I watched a couple of things that I'd Sky+d. Starting with Sundays episode of "Inspector George Gently" which, I have to admit, I only watched because it had Andrew-Lee Potts in it. He played like a gangster from Newcastle and had the accent and everything, he sounded like Ant and Dec! Lol! Even though I'm no expert on accents I thought he was passable enough. It was funny seeing trying to be all hard and menacing though. He's just too damn cute for that. The show itself was alright but I don't think I'll be watching it again. Martin Shaw's "cor blimey, guvnor" voice really annoyed me though. I have no idea what his natural accent is but I don't think it's that. It sounded so fake!

After that I watched last Thursdays "Lie To Me" premiere, I quite liked it and will probably stick with it. I need some new TV as most of my shows finish in the upcoming weeks - "Fringe" finishes on Sunday, then "24" ends on Monday and with the "Bones" finale next Thursday, then the "Primeval" finale next Saturday and then the "Ashes to Ashes" finale the Monday after that there's gonna be barely anything left! At least "Supernatural" will be on for a few more weeks - not many though!

Anyway, "Lie To Me": interesting premise and characters with good actors. Tom Roth looks like he's gonna be fun and Kelli Williams used to be in "The Practice" (I totally shipped her character with Bobby).

In more TV related news: NBC have axed "Medium" (bastards!) but not to worry because CBS, who make it anyway, are gonna pick it up (yay!) and air it in a double bill with "Ghost Whisperer". I've no idea what that might mean to the fact that BBC buy it and air it, hopefully it won't change anything for us. Speaking of, I wonder when season five will be on?

I've noticed in the "Primeval" communities on LJ there's a serious lack of icons for this series. This upsets me as there have been so many great moments this series that deserved to be iconised. I guess this means all the previous icon makers (and there were loads last year!) don't like the show anymore. I've heard quite a lot of negativity towards the show actually which also makes me sad because I think this series has been really strong so far. Okay, so there's been a lot of changes and it's probably not the same show I fell in love with a few years ago but I don't think it's a bad thing - I don't think she show's any better or worse for it. It's just different. If shows didn't evolve they'd stay the same way forever and I, for one, wouldn't want that. Shows can get stale and repetative if they don't change at the right time - season three of "Medium" for example started off really stale and samey but just at the right time they shook things up and made the third season awesome (unfortuately season four didn't live up to it but that's beside the point). It's televisual evolution and I guess fans either go with it or they don't.

Ratings are still quite good for "Primeval" - about a million down on last year and 2007 but it's being shown later in the year and it's normal for TV ratings to be lower when the weather's nicer. They're still fairly consistent though (apart form the Easter weekend when Who was on at the same time) so I hope we get a series four.

Dude, this is one of those rambling posts that has about a dozen different tags because I mention so many different things!

tv: 24, tv: bones, tv: medium, tv: supernatural, tv: primeval, tv: ashes to ashes, tv: general, tv: fringe
