Haven 5x14 - It's good to have this show back but I am super glad they had an extensive "previously on..." because, to be honest, I couldn't really remember what happened last time so it was good to have a reminder (and once I saw it it all came back, of course).
It was interesting having all those troubles flying around - so many that they couldn't deal with them themselves so needed to finally tell all the police officers what's been going on in Haven so they knew what they were dealing with that didn't just go around arresting people with troubles because it just makes everything worse, and they can't help themselves a lot of the time. I thought Dwight and Nathan's speech to the precinct was quite good.
I also liked Nathan's relief about Duke being okay and their awkward hug was quite sweet - I always think it's a shame that they don't use the natural chemistry between Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour more often in this show so it was nice to see that little scene between them. I think it was a shame that Duke left and a bit mean on his part to just leave them all to deal with it themselves. I don't think it was his fault that this has happened but he is kind of leaving them to deal with his mess which I don't think is fair. I hope he realises and comes back - if he even can come back. If no-one has ever even heard of Haven then is it even possible to go back there?
I'm not entirely sure that getting rid of Haven PD and putting everything in control of the guard is gonna be a good idea.
Haven 5x15 - this episode was different for Haven and with the 2 week jump between 5x14 and this one it meant we were kind catching up on things. So Haven is definitely falling apart and things will not be the same again. With troubles just loose and killing people things are looking pretty bleak and dystopian even.
I liked the way the dark was killing them and they were running out of power - that made things quite interesting and scary and the fact that they had to actually go to the power plant to try and fix things, while going through places full of troubles that could kill you. I thought that was quite well done - but quite different for this show.
I'm worried about what Dwight is doing - is he letting the power go to his head or does he just want to keep people alive anyway he can? And try desperately the save what's left of Haven.
And now it looks like the locals are gonna turn on Nathan - surely they know that he's always had the best interests of the town at heart? Obviously they don't know why he left them at the power plant but he was trying to help people. I guess he doesn't want to say anything about what he was doing because he doesn't want to get peoples hopes up but how long can he keep this to himself with the towns people out for blood?
I thought the Duke stuff was quite interesting and the girl he's met seems interesting but I didn't know troubles even happened outside of Haven! I wonder where they're gonna go now?
With this season being the last I'm worried and excited about how things are gonna end. I think it's time for the show to end but I am gonna miss it when the time comes. I hope it ends well.
H50 6x03 - I thought this episode was quite good. It looks like this is the end (for now) of the Catherine and Steve stuff. I don't want to be too mean about it but I think I'm kinda glad about that. I've never really been a big fan of their relationship as I don't really think the chemistry is there (and this show is never really that great at doing the whole romance thing).
I was a bit annoyed at Catherine for leaving again - I know she has her reasons (whatever they really are) but why did she come back and say all that stuff about being where she wants to be when she knew there was a possibility she might have to leave again. Obviously if she's still involved in some operations (for the Navy or whoever?) then she must have known that she wouldn't be in Hawaii forever. I assume we're gonna find out exactly what she's doing and who she's working for at some point in this season.
I just felt sorry for Steve - he looked heartbroken at the end when he realised. I'm glad he told her that he wasn't gonna wait for her anymore and that if she leaves now then that's it because I honestly think he needs to move on from her instead of continuing to believe that what they have is even gonna be a stable relationship. He's settled now and if he needs to be in a relationship he needs someone who's willing to do that too. I would actually like to see him stay single for a while and maybe focus on his friendships a bit more (Danny, the rest of the team, Ellie, etc). I don't think he needs to be in a romantic relationship to be happy - and as I've mentioned this show doesn't do romantic relationships that well anyway.
I thought the case of the week was interesting enough although it was kind of a shame that we knew what had happened to the first victim they met but the rest of the case was quite good and it was nice seeing all of the team give them input - including Jerry (in his Mulder-esque office in the basement), Eric (fun to see him back again, I hope his character progresses) and Max, of course. But what's happened to Mindy Shaw? I liked her character.
Oh, and Gabriel was involved somehow? He's definitely the new Wo Fat.
As I was out on Friday night and last night I went to a quiz I'm a bit behind on my shows. I will try and catch up today and tomorrow.
